About three years ago, I had a pair shipped from Canada from a company called MEC. They weren't sold in the USA then. They are still like new. These boots are some of the highest quality, toughest, strongest boots you can get. Too bad they are so hard to find. If you're interested in these, also check out the Alico guides from Sierra Trading Post.

...applied 2 coats of mink oil and they were back in the game.My hiking friends dont understand that its all about support, protection and durability with these boots. they are my long trail/ heavy load boots, what I call my "light hikers" are a vintage(but still in great shape) Rachel rodondo's, simular to the Gronells in construction and looks(SS hardware and red laces)but are a bit lighter, but can do any thing the Gronell's can do. I plan to have both for the rest of my life, great boots!

Great boots. Ive had them for a few years now and I feel like I'm still breaking them in. These things will last forever.

These look awesome. It seems as though they're almost exclusively sold in Europe and more specifically Italy.

they look terrific, something to be said for the craftsmanship of them, from what I can see on video anyway.

I have a pair of Gronell Stevilo's with stainless steel Drings and hooks. They are M1 tanks for your feet. I have got mine broken in and despite the comments I get to the contrary, they are very comfortable. My feet are safe and secure inside them in a pair of Smart Wool mountaineering sox.BUT, I fell into a freezing creek up to my knees and had to walk 2 miles in them to camp in 20 degree temp. they became cinder blocks and oh the pain! when I finaly got home and let them dry for a week...

Gronnel are superb. I have the Stelvio and Aprica models but I would love the Klondike, do they still make them on special order ? I also have 2 pairs of Italian made Treemme boots( 194 & 137 ) which are as good as the Gronnel boots so they are definitely worth checking out as well, fantastic quality mountain boots.

BTW, I had to order my Gronells direct from Italy, TWICE! as they sent the wrong size the first time and I paid $320 USD in 2006,not including shipping worth every dime and the wait.

Hi ; That's interesting whom you're in the states... What do you think about the fit of the toe box of this gronell ? ...standard, wide or thin ?

I know my Gronell Stevilo's does not have them, and im pretty sure the Klondikes dont either, but I may be wrong on those, I can only speak for the model I have. and they defanatly do not have Thinsulate. Again, I emailed the company and ordered direct

Where did you hear that these boots had 200g of Thinsulate in them? Also, don't these boots have OutDry technology? As I am sure you know...Gronell boots are hard to find stateside, and information is even harder, their website sucks and is not very concise. I have spoke to several reps and have found no one to confirm your claim to Thinsulate in the boot...but all have told me they have OutDry. Who did you talk to? Sport-Hansa doesn't confirm your claim either, I'd like to figure this out.
