All those souls that have lived and passed we never even knew existed if not for this footage. Amazing work

Incorrect. I'm the man in the beginning. Yes, I know you're probably going to make fun of my age like the rest of the whippersnappers who find out how old I am, but let me tell you, there's nothing funny about it. So what if I'm 180. I enjoy things just like you do. Like eating cheerios with horse milk and a giant wooden spoon. Normal things.

Everything about this video is amazing, the original camera work, the way the footage has been restored and colorized, the completely candid and unpretentious slices of the daily lives of the people who never could have imagined they would be viewed on film more than a century into the future, the way they dressed, all of it is an extraordinary time capsule being opened before our eyes. Thank you so much for this longer video. I could watch this for hours.
@georgesunday98553 ай бұрын
The clarity of the restoration makes it look like a film shot recently with precise attention to period details. But knowing otherwise gives it an almost eerie feeling watching it, as though we stepped back in time.

This is my city, I know for sure that my great grandfather Herman has known at least some of these people. He was a clothier at the end of the 'Ebbingestreet' (beyond the 'Martini church' from the start of the film), he sold suits and all kinds of related men's clothing. Absolutely unreal to see this in colour. Incredible!

I am 65. When I was young I knew a number of people of my great-grandparents’ and grandparents generation who were adults at the time this was filmed, one who was even almost 40, lived 1880-1985. My parents were born within 5 years of this film. So although it seems historic, there are people alive today who will have known some of these people. It’s not as long ago as you think. Yet while a lot of the fabric survives in buildings, town layout, furniture, art and culture etc. that society is gone with the wind, the world will never be like that again.
