@@buncharted When you walk through Folkingestraat (the street with the synagogue, there are a lot of things that remind of the Jewish history of the street, and tell the story fo the people who used to live there, but who were murdered during the war. 6:56 It used to be...126 metres even.. much to the annoyance of the bisshop of Utrecht, the official Vatican seat.. When Groningen celebrated a victory over a siege, part of the tower burnt.. making it shorter.. Happy Utrecht bisshop let the Groiningers rebuilt, but it had to be lower then Dom Tower in Utrecht. The Martini tower has a fundation the only goes 2 metres deep, and rests on deer and cowskins.

6:29 the reason you don't see any skyscrapers in Groningen..? The "Olle Grieze" ( Old Grey one) is by law protected.. No building is allowed to be taller then The Martini Tower. ( Tower of Saint Martin) And it it is the one of few who don't have a rooster in top, but a horse... There is another tower, The "Drumnkman's tower" it shows 2 clocks from any visual point.. hence the name..tower of St. John's church. . And The St Johns bridge has in its railings a depiction of John the Baptist, pointing to the Martini tower and church..because it held the actual arm of John the Baptist int he medieval times, and pilgrimns would come to Groningen, Gruoninga to worship it. Love you guys, you two are awesome!!!!!! Greetings from Groningen (oke the province, I live in Delfzijl, but born and raised in Groningen, and work there still..) Recipes may vary, but you can look up "gebakken marinier". A dish invented by the Dutch navy. The one airplane carrier we used to own (Karel Doorman) was sold to Argentina decades ago. Partially paid for with corned beef I kid you not. To put all that canned meat to use (same as the navy had to): mix with onion, garlic, ketjap and sambal an fry it up in a pan. Serve on bread or with rice. I like to spread some on a pancake and roll that sucker up.

I suppose now, since you did not climb the Dom toren, you need to return to Utrecht too, right? PS Should you want to make your own Mayonnaise, it is actually not that hard. Egg yolks, vinegar and oil, salt. Add whatever spice you want to the mix. I have a tendency to take a balsamic (red or white) vinegar instead of clear vinegar. Mustard needs to be in it too, but red or green pepers would work well. Mayo for me is the ultimate experiment, add yogurts to the mix for a salad dressing...
