Melbourne Australia calling, I used to live in Groningen in the DISCO era, it was absolutely a RIOT ( I mean fun!), the students from all over the world study in Groningen, at night time, bars & disco's in full swing!!!! Those were the days in the disco era, pulsating disco music loud through the nights & early mornings, big flairs, platform shoes, body shirts & of course long hair afro hairstyle!!!!!!!

I love living here, the atmosphere is just wonderfull and unlike most other cities in this country! A place where nobody lookes twice at some random people dancing in the streets ;p

9:38 most likely an egg from a "Kriel kip". You might know them as "Bantam chicken" . A smaller variety of chicken, laying smaller eggs. It seemed too small to be quail eggs, but i couldn't quite tell on camera. Anyway, great video, lovely viewing.

Great video! And I can totally see why you'd fall in love with Shakira 😍 Being from Brabant myself I don't think I've ever been to Groningen so it was interesting to get an impression of the ambiance over there. It looked a lot more fun than I'd expected since down here in the south we always like to think of the most northern provinces as rigid.

It's like that in every country, it seems! That rigid Northern stereotype, isn't that interesting?

I have a softspot for Groningen. Besides being born in the province, I like Stad, as the city of Groningen is called by locals, because of it’s bars, students and the atmosphere. One of its shopping streets has been selected as best shopping street in the Netherlands. What I am missing is the fun stuff the Province of Groningen has to offer. Bourtange, Klooster ter Apel just to mention two of the many nice things worth a visit. Question for you, did you experience the local dialect? If so, were you able to understand? Next to Eierballen, there are some other typical foods. Groninger koek and Droge worst come to mind. So, maybe something to explore in a second visit.

We planned to visit Groningen this summer, but due to the lockdown, we didn't book yet. Anyhow, I don't think I can top your dance moves anyway. When visiting Friesland, do try Keallepoat! I stayed in Friesland for a few weeks to paint a mural, and I was totally hooked on this delicacy. It is a bit like taaitaai and pepernoten, but it is available throughout the year; not only around Sinterklaas. The Frisian language is between English and Dutch, so it should be the closest relative to English from all the 'living' languages, but that doesn't mean you will be able to understand any of it when they talk among each other. I sure didn't.
