I have a yorkie whose tail was docked as a puppy. when I rescued her, she was in a "summer cut" with the hair on her tail hanging down. it has always looked funny to me a and I would like to trim it myself because she isn't long enough to have a full cut done, how do I properly trim the hair on her tail so it doesn't look funny?

my yorkie won't keep still ...any pointers he's 1 yrs old.

do you have any tips for dogs that snap and bite? i can groom my toy yorkie on the table fine but my medium size yorkie bites and snaps when i try to cut his nails or back are/tail end of him so sometimes i just leave him as i dont want to make it a stressful thing for him.

tweet01uk try giving him some Rescue Remedy before you groom him and make sure he knows you are the alpha in his pack. Really praise him for good behavior and ignore the bad (as much as you can).

tweet01uk Not the maker of this video but I am a professional groomer. Most of the time they bite and snap because they're very frightened. Usually going slow and talking to him goes a long way. If you live with anyone, try getting a roommate/spouse/sibling or anyone the dog is super familiar with to help. Have that person calmly talking to them and telling them thats its not so bad, while gently holding and stroking the head. If the dog still bites, use a muzzle (preferable a basket one so the dog can still breathe) while using the same technique. Go slow, and do a bit at a time. If you need to take a break (because it can be frustrating), walk away for a few minutes and then go back.

Maybe try to be super calm and patient. I'm not expert but you know show him or she can trust you. Maybe they might have had a cut or something there too and were a little sensitive? :)
