I usually do. Brushing is a must, or you can hurt the dog with the clippers.

Yes, seems way more human than cutting and injuring a dog's nails.

Do you need to shampoo before cut or after
@DIYPetGroomsАй бұрын
Most groomers like to bathe the dog before the cut. While there is no set rule, brushing before the cut is a must.

So... question: what are your tips for keeping the hair around the mouth clean and not brown or red? I know it's mostly from saliva....

Please come to my house. Grooming my 2 y/o female is like wrestling with a greased pig. I mean, she's not aggressive or anything, just fidgets like a mad man. Usually either I get worn out, or she does... I tried showing her the video and told her "hey, this is how you should be, it would be so much simpler!" She just made a noise and fake nipped my nose. (that was 99% me kidding around - but she does hate being groomed).

I love that you do two feet in the video. Helps to remember all of the steps when you see it twice with the front foot and the back foot.

Please....what size curved scissors are you using in this video?

My Yorkie has 5 times the thickness of this puppy and will not sit still for anything. I’ve taken him to Petsmart already and they couldn’t even groom him at 4 months old 😢. I’ve made an appointment at Petco, hopefully they can help. I’ve already taken off most of the thickness so that should help. My 16 year old was so much easier, unfortunately he passed away in December 😢. I miss him so much.

Why is her skin SO dark. It almost looks black. Is that because she is a mixed breed? Maltipoo? My Poodles have always had pink skin.

My Yorkie is 10 weeks and has a lot of hair however I want to wait a while what age do you trim or cut their hair?I want it left a little long but not to long just neat looking.I loved the video.

Always keeps some *styptic powder* near by in case you nic the wick. It can bleed a lot and be hard to stop. Especially if you have a dog with black nails.

Thank you for the help! I am taking care of my friend's mini schnauzers while she recovers from injuries from a fall. I need to trim them a bit until they can get back to her groomer. It's like magic to see how you work!!

I am hoping that I can get my schnauzers face right now with your step-by-step groom. If not, there is no hope for me and no hope for my poor schnauzers ever having a neat trimmed face. :-) Thank you! :-)

This is the best “how-to-groom-a-Shih Tzu” video I have seen. Thank you for taking the time to explain every step and describing the tools and settings that you use and showing the results of each step. I don’t think I realized the need to continually recomb, reshape and reshave as you go -that was so helpful to see. I’m more confident I will be able to start grooming my 2 Shih Tzu’s at home using your instructions and am saving this and will refer back to it as I go and as the previous commenter suggested.

You are amazing, thank you. Complete side note: Only thing that broke my heart is seeing how she doesnt have a tail, it’s horrible that this is normalized in the states. My biewer terrier(pure yorkie genetics) her entire personality and emotions are shown through her tail😢 I’ve seen so many dogs in the states without it, how do people have the heart, in my eyes it is animal abuse to remove such an important part of their body.

One of the most helpful, specific videos I’ve found. I wish the camera person had kept the cord clicking still. It makes it harder to hear her (and it’s unbelievably distracting for those of us that are learning). Otherwise, the groomer herself is very helpful. Thank you.

We have an 8 month old Shih Tzu and this is our third time cutting her hair. I watched your video after her second haircut and immediately ordered curved scissors and small hair thinners. What a difference. Both were a game changer! My husband & I both watched, paused, cut some hair, gave her a break and repeated the process several times. It was a much better grooming session than the previous two! Your video was wonderful. You are concise, explain everything step-by-step and demonstrate what you are explaining. We aren't fast, and she is wiggly, but we have certainly improved our style and her demeanor! Thank you!

Amazing job on the schnauzer. Your the first to see you use the 7 skimmer blade. I do that a lot myself. I’m getting back to grooming again after 20+ years doing it. Haven’t done it in almost 15 years now. Going to be working in a mobile grooming place soon. I’m just watching all the new video’s of groomers from all over some still use my old techniques, and some are very new especially some of the newer breeds of dogs. Thanks for the videos. Good recap.

That is NOT a Pekingese. Pekingese are brachycephalic (flat-faced) dogs. That being said, I loved this video. My local groomer said that they can no longer groom him because he's 15 years old so I'm trying to do it myself. This is a great step-by-step video of how to groom him. The only part I'm missing is how to clean his face folds.
