Loved this video - the tips on keeping the coat flat while bathing surprised me in that I realized I've done that somewhat intuitively. Happy to know it's the right way! Great video, Suzanne. I didn't see a single thing that looked 'ruff' at all, and I was looking for it. If I was in your area and if my dogs were small enough, I'd be glad to have you groom my dogs, without hesitation.

YAY! Thank you Suzanne! I just got a beautiful one year old jet black show Cocker named Bonnie and I want to learn how to groom myself. I have seen your Cocker video with Go Groomer, but I prefer your calm narration and less intrusive music. The breeder has trained my girl well as she already has great table manners and is used to having her back carded. So I'm off to a good start. If she can look half as good as the absolutely beautiful Thicket, I will be happy!

Suzanne, I am a previous ESS male owner, but it has been many years since I owned a dog that needs grooming. I am purchasing a blue roan cockapoo. Her coat looks rough curly...which videos do I need...cockapoo or cockerspaniel?

I've just found your video ! It's very instructive, thank you. I have a 6m old show cocker puppy (as a pet, not for showing). Her coat has become unbelievably fluffy which looks gorgeous but needs attention ! I've only ever clipped my cockers before, I didn't know about carding. What's the best knife to get to remove the puppy fluff, and is it too soon to do this ?

Beautiful baby. I have a 13 year old and he gets so upset when I have to have him groomed I am afraid he will have a heart attack

I know that it’s difficult. My recommendation is to wash and dry him the day before. Ask them to just trim him. Make sure that he gets groomed regularly and that he gets no mats. I would imagine that the blow dryer is the problem. It usually is with cockers.

Can you rake with a mars coat king instead of using a carding knife?

A coat king can cut the hair. It is recommended to use the carding tool.

I wish i could've begun his life handstripping him,. But there isnt a groomer within 200 miles who did it. Now, at 3, its too late. I still prefer stripping, do he doesnt look like he has a stripe with a skirt down his back. Every time I use vet wrap on my cocker's ears, within a half an hour he's shaken it off. 😱 😵‍💫😬 I don't know how you do it. I've finally given up and bought a snood. Also, he has a really thick black coat, unlike my chocolate girls. Clipping his face is a nightmare. I use the bravura, which is not as quiet as advertised, and the mini version I'm not skilled enough with a 30# blade not to nick him. My biggest issue is working out small mats and detangles, especially in under his arms where his service vest goes. He hates every brush I've bought. I can't afford Chris Christenson's products, though they're ideal. I just don't have $80 to spare for a de-matting brush. I never had this issue with my cocker girls. It's a battle with him. Suggestions?
