Vanessa agrees to groom a ferocious polar bear. Ferocious polar bear promptly falls in love with Vanessa. Everyone lives happily ever after except the cameraman who disappeared under a giant pile of white fluff 💕 Seriously, he was an absolutely gorgeous and sweet boy and seemed so very patient. I’m really thankful that you figured out a way to make it work! You really are remarkable!

She has a wonderful rapport with dogs. I expect all the water felt really good to him on a warm summer day. My parents had a dog that went deaf. He was always kind of neurotic but going deaf definitely made him more aggressive and bitey, as several groomers could testify. They finally had to euthanize him at 16 when he went blind and became too much for my parents to handle.

@@JK-sh8rc I think your parent’s choice was a human and kind choice for their dog, especially at that age. My friend’s family went through something similar, his blindness/deafness made him panicky and flighty - which also led to him biting out of fear. Broke their heart, but he’d become unpredictable.

And Vanessa turns it into fake click bate and subjects this poor passive defeated dog to more shampoo and rinsing than he needs in favor of milking the KZbin algorithm for longer click bate videos. She apparently cares more about KZbin revenue than the poor pets she grooms.

I had a Pyrenees, Lab cross that was as deaf as a stone. When he was a puppy, I thought that either he was incredibly stubborn or incredibly dumb, but it turned out that he was just incredibly deaf! After that, I trained him using hand signals and he was the easiest dog to train that I ever worked with. He was always watching me to be sure that he wouldn't miss a command. He had the best recall ever. As long as he could see me wave him in, he would come running from the other side of the 10 acre pasture! Casper was a big, sweet, teddy bear and I really miss him.

I used to combine Hand and auditory signals to train my dog, so that in situations where I sighted deer or other wildlife we could both go on watching without giving us away. My dog was a Malinois-Mix rescue and had had a broken hip and hind leg early in life from a brutal beating, and after her surgery she never went after any animal, not even the rabbits in the park. I was once asked by riders that saw me making her stay in place simply by hand commands because I didn‘t want to spook the horses if I was training her to be an assistance dog… I really liked that they thought I was doing something special, but I guess after a while I just didn‘t want to continue yelling at my soul dog if it wasn‘t necessary. R.I.P. Joy 💔

I had been wondering about signing to the dog. I watch another channel where the owner has a deaf Aussie and she uses sign with her all the time. It might have been nice for the dog as well as being helpful for Vanessa to know sign just for “good dog “ for reassurance. “Up” (provided the dog would actually pay attention to it 😂) might have been REALLY helpful for her as well.

The fact that you got to where you are, chose to offer your services free of charge instead of premium pricing due to a "celebrity / influencer groomer status" AND you take on challenging dogs... She’s such an amazing human being. She also regularly donates large sums of her money and fundraisers regularly for animal charities. She is clearly in this line of work because she genuinely loves these animals and wants to make a positive difference, which she is absolutely succeeding in doing so. One of the most genuine, humble and giving people on KZbin! Fame destroys so many, but for Vanessa it seems to be the opposite. The more notoriety and success she has gained, the more she gives back. It’s really remarkable and inspiring to see, especially these days where so many people only focus on/care about themselves and their profits, with little regard for much else. Vanessa is truly a diamond in the rough (or “ruff” lol), and is a blessing for so many animals and their humans. She will always have my full support!

when you're done with the premium boot licking you might be able to realise that of course she is not doing anything for free. Quite the opposite, she is exploiting the internet virality to the fullest she can because she profits from these animals massively through monetised views, far, far exceeding the unreasonable fees she arbitrarily charges. She is hardly the sainted figure you imagine her to be, she is definitely money greedy and the only reason she takes on 'challenging' animals is to amass more views for 'purebreds', not out of the goodness of her heart. She keeps banging on offering services 'free of charge' to portray it as volunteering her time, but she is not, it's full on promotion of her channel and she gets paid much more this way. If that's your standard of a good human, I shudder to think what your ethical values are. These blatantly ass kissing comments make me feel second hand embarrassment.

I noticed that too. At first I thought it kind of silly, talking to a deaf dog, but then I started thinking about it. It's actually a good thing that she's praising him out loud. When @Girl With The Dogs 2 is praising him what she is saying out loud reflects in her own body/face. Her body and face will reflect the mood surrounding what she is saying out loud and the dog will pick up on it. I mean even humans can tell the mood of a person by their body language, and dogs are a lot more sensitive than humans in that aspect

I’m deaf and I’ve always wanted to adopt a deaf dog. He was such a sweet soulful guy. I think the growl at the beginning might have been when he was with his human so he was guarding them. Like you said, once he doesn’t have anything to guard, he chilled out. I think he actually enjoyed being able to peace out and not worry about being on guard. I suspect tho he couldn’t hear you say “good boy”, he likely read lips if he spends a lot of time with ppl. So I think he got the message. Lip reading is something us deafies just acquire over time, so I wonder if deaf dogs learn to lip read? Anyway, I’m sure your calm energy helped him feel safe. He’s an Angel. I love Himb😍

When I was a geologist, I went to a Great Pyrenese breeder near Thunder Bay. I was considering getting one for a bush dog, pack dog, sled dog, utility dog and a companion for those long lonely times in the Canadian bush. The breeder showed me her dogs and I remember we got to the last dog in the kennels and I had to stop to look. He was enormous, bigger than me at the time. Even though he was behind chainlink fence, I backed up. The message was clear. She said that he was her own personal dog. He looked at me and his eyes looked directly into mine. He never barked, never growled, just emoted...'you're standing too close to her'. And I edged away from his owner. The brown eyes never left me. His stance said it all. "I don't care about the fence. I serve her and you are meat." She had stories about all the dogs she had sold and one of them went to a teacher on the coast of Labrador who taught mentally challenged students. She decided to borrow some sled dogs and go for a trip up the coast to stay at one of the cabins that were there for anyone who needed them. She travelled for a full day, with two huskies and her Great Pyrenese, which was her own personal dog. She tied up the dogs at the end of the day and slept the night in the cabin. In the morning, she was aroused by a commotion outside and went to investigate. The two huskies had gotten free from her restraints but before they could take off they were pinned down by her Great Pyrenese who held them down until she could retie them. He wasn't about to do all the pulling on the way home and ensured he had kept the hired help. Mind you, that's a Canadian Great Pyrenese, probably infused with a healthy dose of common sense just from living in this crazy country. The breeder had a book on all of her dogs and their stories which I have kept, fifty years on. I never did buy one of her dogs, but my daughter owns a GP, and he would brook no nonsense from anyone who tried to mess with her. They are good dogs, but ferocious if aroused. Bred for a purpose, but amenable to whatever life throws at them, often smarter than their owners, and a trapper I met said that he would love to own one just for their logical ways of reasoning things out.

I had a GP who my parents wanted just as a pet, but she was meant to be a guardian. I had to train her and I had to prove that I was self aware and in charge. She once pinned a friend on the floor because he came into my house unescorted with no biting. Her calm and precise way of reacting made me feel safer.

When Vanessa at 14:05 starts to talk to him, and he then fully takes in her petting, I have to admit I started to tear up. Livestock guardian dogs need their hearing to do their jobs so it must be so tough for him not to have it. But you can see their bond grow at that precious moment. I would love to see this lovable lug groomed again.

I agree, someone probably got very close while he was sleeping and then probably made a quick movement or reach before he had a chance to sus them out with his sniffer. Smell is everything to dogs and even more important to deaf dog so if he didn’t have a chance to see or smell something, his immediate reaction would be “danger!” I bet it was purely instinct/reaction and he stopped quickly, I highly, highly doubt it was a bite, hold, shake incident. If my dogs want to bite something and hurt it, they actually bite down to the bone, shake their entire body with all of their weight and won’t let go for anything. Of course mine wouldn’t hurt a human but it’s RIP to anything that moves it the yard.

The rest of our family never realized it was an unconscious habit we share, but all of us bring our free hand up to touch the area below the collarbone/upper chest on the same side when commanding "sit", and our Australian Shepherds (one of them passed away this year sadly) both learned the sign/gesture far better than any vocal commands. The other one still occasionally won't listen to a spoken "sit", but with the right gesture, she plants her fluffy butt on the ground immediately. Most animals in general understand body language far better than voice anyway, horses being another great example. Animals are really wonderful in that way 🐶
