About me:
My name is Anthony Chisnall. I'm a musician & songwriter.
My channel is these things:
1. A place to share my songs - via various 'Back on Track' video series - in which you'll see each song idea evolve step-by-step, with me (hopefully!) improving my song-writing skills as we go.
2. An outlet for me to discuss all things musical - including technical break-downs of software and tools that I use, as well as more wide-ranging discussions of topics that interest me.
I play the guitar (electric, acoustic, and bass), and record all of my own synth-based sounds myself too, but I can't sing very well (huge understatement!), and so my wife, Pauline, who has a lovely singing voice, has come to my rescue. You'll hear her on all of my songs.
All of my music is written in Steinberg's Cubase.
I try very hard to make my videos PRACTICAL and no-nonsense - if I don't use a feature, I'm not going to waste your time trying to sound like an expert on it! This is the stuff I use day-to-day, so I think that's also what you'd like to hear me talking about.

Hi Anthony, thanks for the great tutorial! I have a question and hope you can help me with this: I saw you changing from a track that had the solo-button tot the next track (to compare the sounds) and without clicking on the solo-button the next track automaticly is in solo and the first track is on mute. When I click on the next button I have to first mute the track before and solo the next track. How can I do it the way I saw you doing in the video? Thanks and greetings from Harald (Holland)

Thanks for the feedback! There's a "Solo Follows Focus" option in the Preferences\Editing screen that will do the trick.

Excellent video, Anthony. It's been niggling me for a long time that there's no easy way to open up the full potential of the different styles across kits - this really should be a lot simpler in GA in my opinion, although you can kind of see why it would be difficult to implement

How do you get the track to mute, just by selecting the track? (not hitting the mute/solo buttons). At 08:50 min.

That's a feature of Solo in Cubase. It follows along with each selected track. The options are in your preferences: Editing\Project & Mix Console.

Thanks for your great videos! I have a problem when I pick the pad up to the secuencer, there are some notes written on the keys that actually activates the pads, so if I want to listen the pattern playing the secuencer of Cubase, I have to turn off every sinlge pads manually, other wise the rythm written on the secuencer is "contaminated" by the pad . Is there another way to deactivate the pad of the agent? It is very impractical if We want to hear the diferent drum sets.

Yes, use the dedicated MIDI ports for Patterns and Instruments (there's an option called "Use Pattern MIDI Port for Pattern Pads" in the Pattern Group Page). "The Kit" and "Simon Phillips Studio Drums" are my two main go-to's, but I do try to mix it up regularly and choose one of the others.

Thanks, very interesting. What are the main differences between GA 5 and GA SE 5? The number of Kits and patterns?

There are quite a few. One of the main ones (for me) is the ability to export entire Acoustic Agent kits, with all their settings, into the Cubase mixer. It's quite something.
