Me too. Same feeling also. I remember the scene...Jamie Foxx says "So you like the classics?" to this song. Obviously the actor had no idea what song was going to be played. But laughed when I looked it up. Song was made just a few years before the movie was made. Song has a classic feel, for sure! But I'm betting they had a plan for a different song to be playing. I'm sure glad they went with this song. Absolutely fantastic choice for the movie, and I may never have heard this song if they didn't use it...what a travesty that would've been ;)

So, in April I died. I went to hospital with chest pains and they rushed me into the catheter lab, where I died. 8 minutes later, I came back. I woke up the next day (the day of Prince Philip's funeral actually) in intensive care - after I'd woken up and it was clear I hadn't suffered brain damage, I was left alone. I had my phone and headphones with me, and this song is the song I put on first. I couldn't listen to all of it, it was too much, too emotional. I well up even now just thinking about that moment. This song pulled me through. Needing to hear this song again pulled me through. I'll be forever indebted to it.

2024. 🙋♀️ The song "Hands of Time" conveys a sense of longing and regret over lost opportunities and the inability to change the past. Richie Havens sings of looking through a window pane, trying to see through the pouring rain, and hearing someone's name. He feels that he has lost something valuable and cannot regain it, with no one to blame but himself. The chorus emphasizes the idea that one cannot turn back time, no matter how much they may wish to. The repeated lines "Seems to me, can't turn back the hands of time" and "Seems to me, yesterday was left behind" highlight this theme of the irreversibility of time. Overall, "Hands of Time" is a reflective and poignant reminder that time waits for no one and once the moment has passed, it can never be recaptured.

Heard this in collateral guessed the title but wasn't even close. Reminds me of when I was a little kid dad and I would sit on the porch during storms he'd strum guitar licks some standard r&b some made up as we'd go along. One long song sometimes. If the music took him he'd write the lyrics as he went along. Other times it was the stuff he'd been playing his whole life. Sam and Dave, Otis, songs he played in concerts with Delbert(straight jackets)(rondells) Arthur Conley stuff. I hope to find that peace again. I hope you've found it again dad. I miss you.
