I love this song by whoever, but it is my favorite of Peggy Lipton, just above San Francisco Glide, one of 3 great songs that SHE WROTE! Today, 1/4/2020, I look down (literally) at the soulless comments below me saying she's not a good singer! The hell she isn't? Who the fuck are any of you and what the hell have you done that gives you a license to piss on someone else? Now Laura Nyro was the greatest singer/pianist-songwriter ever to breathe, but Peggy Lipton had Lou Adler producing her with great arrangements, while Laura was more of a do-it-her-way artist, which is why others had more success with her songs than she did. Lu is also among my top 10 of all of Laura's songs, including unknown greats like Get Me My Cap, Gardenia Talk, and Light. Now, nobody talks down either of these late legends again, you read me?!?

Oh, hey! I had no clue anyone had covered this Laura Nyro song. A lot of people have sung her songs, so it's not that surprising, but this song isn't well-known. The girl looks a lot like a grown-up Marsha Brady. I would definitely recommend listening to the original version if you enjoyed this, there's an immense difference.

Peggy Lipton certainly showed good taste in her selection of Laura Nyro's "Lu." She's very pretty here (described as a "flower child Natalie Wood" in a review of her album in "Stereo Review") and puts a nice "pop" spin on her rendition. Listen to Nyro's soulful rendition for a comparison.

Peggy Lipton was a beautiful woman but that was the worst lip-synching I've ever seen. Maybe if her husband at the time record producer Quincy Jones had helped her out she could have done a better job. After all he did wonders with that overrated Michael Jackson Thriller album.

I'm quite sure that Quincy Jones did EVERYTHING possible to help her short recording career - in fact I'm sure he was the key behind it, being one of the very best Record Producers of his time. Peggy Lipton did her best and I remember as a little kid I had her album but even then I knew she wasn't exactly Ella Fitzgerald when it came to singing.
