Thank you for the awesome lesson! My grandma gave my mom a mountain dulcimer many years ago. I am currently 15, and my love for all types of music is stronger than ever. Having a strong background in violin and guitar, I thought I could pick up the dulcimer easily. However, I had no clue where to start! Thank you for the amazing introduction to what I'm sure will be a long and happy pursuit of the mountain dulcimer! Cheers, Soomin

I have been all over the web looking for an approach that speaks to me and found it in your very relaxed and clear manner! Do I join to access further instructional videos? I am so new to this all and thank you for any assistance! PS I am wondering what to use to mark my frets without the concern of doing any harm to the wood.

Glad it was helpful! This is the only Dulcimer video that I've released so far. As far as the fret markers go...I simply got some white electrical tape and used a hole punch to create the dots.

Awesome. Love the Appalachian dulcimer. Any tips for 5 string dulcimer lessons?
@groovydjs7 жыл бұрын
Sure, this is the same thing. They simply added one more string in the middle, exactly as they did with one of the D strings.....they just do it to the middle A string on the 5 string. No matter what, you are only playing 3 notes total. So, no difference in learning what so ever. Cheers.

I'm just learning the dulcimer and am playing by the numbers. Would this lesson include that info? I know music but not on strings so I don't want to buy something that won't work for a newbie. Thanks.

What's standard tuning for this instrument?
@jazzcatt Жыл бұрын
On this video he is using DAD tuning. DAA (lowest note being D) Was the traditional first tuning and it is used a LOT. Actually, if I'm going to tell true history CGG was the original tuning. I think they raised it to D to make it easier to play with other string instruments in a bit more modern times.
