Yes, the great events and changes that occurred during Groucho's seventy years in show business are truly staggering to ponder, especially when one realizes he began his stage career in 1905, a time when the motor car was a just rich man's plaything and the average life expectancy of an American was considerably less than fifty, working non-stop through nearly eight-full decades of the twentieth century before taking his final bow in 1977, eight years after the Moon Landing and Woodstock. In the years encompassing his very long career as an entertainer two world wars were fought, Henry Ford's Model T convinced the world of the benefits of the auto, radio and television were invented, 12 U.S. Presidents came and went, the Atom Bomb was conjured into existence, space travel made possible, 2 Red Scares swept the nation, polio cured, Jim Crow segregation outlawed, the jet engine brought nearly every corner of the globe to within a day's journey by plane, and the Sun finally set on the British Empire. And this is far from an exhaustive list of the incredible things to happen during Groucho's life as a performer!

Groucho was awesome all the way till he passed away. When each Marx brothers passed away the world lost a great man and comedian. Harpo then Chico and then Groucho. He was passionate about political issues. Especially about our military service. So many servicemen dying. Love love love Groucho and Harpo and Chico. May they rest in peace. I can't wait to get to heaven to go see the Marx brothers perform

Shelly winters, was lovely. Patient, accommodating, & for a Hollywood, star. Down to earth! Love, groucho, he may well be named, grumpo, as he got older. But that's understandable. Cavett genuinely, had a soft - spot for him.

Groucho was so quit witted, im still not sure he was funny, some times. 50 years later, I'm laughing, " now I get it". Man all these people with him are nervous like those performig improv,. He was very quick, you had to be on your toes. Poor Dick Cavet, the perfect straight man. Always with his chin ,right there. Thanks Groucho and Dick.

Awe, I was hoping to hear the Boys sing from the show... it opened in May 1970 and lasted less than two months. Shelley says "union rules" prevented them from performing songs from the show. B.S. This was a perfect "free" commercial. tooooo bad.

He just got it confused here. In books I have read, where the same stories are often told, she originally said it was her sister's baby. But in fact it was hers. Groucho dodged a bullet in this event!

If you knew the history of Groucho and how much he was idolised you would understand a bit more and enjoy his stories more. He was highly intelligent too and devoted his life to entertaining people.

In 1970 I turned 21 in Chicago. I made my way to a telephone booth to call my mom back in L.A. to say, "Hey mom! I'm 21 today!" Too poor to have a TV to watch this show when it happened...too busy making history.
