Ground Combat Tips for Random ELITE TFOs | Star Trek Online

Yeah, the important things with getting the optimum Kit Frame are... Make sure to get the right one from the summer store as there are others. Simply named the 'Risian Kit' To get KPerfx3 you must perform these steps in the correct order... 1. Stick the Very Rare Risian Kit in the upgrade window to automatically convert the infinity symbol to MKXII for free. Importantly, DON'T add any upgrade tokens at this point or you'll mess it up. 2. Now come out of the upgrade window and select to re-engineer both of the two existing mods to KPerf to give you a KPerfx2 Very Rare item. 3. Now you can upgrade it and notice that when it goes to Ultra Rare you get a third KPerf mod bringing it to KPerfx3 4. Continue upgrading to MKXV Epic to end up the the ideal combination of [KP/Wpn] [KPerf]x3 [Proc] which gives you 31.9 Weapon Proficiency and 127.5 Kit Performance Once you've done it correctly and have your KPerfx3, don't ever try to re-roll any of them again, as you won't be able to get it back again. The crucial thing about it is if you upgrade to Ultra Rare BEFORE re-engineering the initial two mods, the KPerf mod will disappear from the list when you try to re-engineer the third one, leaving you with a subpar combination. Don't make that mistake.😇

That +30% ranged weapons damage is that exclusive to the Risian kits I've not seen it anywhere else, must be why his weapons have more damage than mine even when at the same level.

For tactical captains, another great combo of things you can easily buy on the exchange, is the 'Trajectory Bending' kit module (tactical only), and the trait 'Ambush Fighter'. Trajectory Bending makes all ground hits a flank for the duration, and this kit module has a reasonably short cooldown. Combined with Ambush Fighter, which makes all ground flanking hits guaranteed crits. With a big hitter weapon like the Shax Cannon or Boolean; I have been able to get crits of 6k or more on ground, occasionally even one-shotting a captain rank enemy...

This was interesting, thank you! I like to use Trajectory Bending with Ambush Fighter. Every shot is a flanking shot, and it really buffs crits. Wow. I've been in the game from the beginning and I didn't know ground doffs can help space skills! I'm going to overhaul mine right now. Thank you!

CasualSAB made a video on how to get KPerfx3 on them. The gist is that you have to roll the first 2 KPerf before you start upgrading it!

Rising kit is pretty simple, DON'T UPGRADE UNTIL YOU HAVE ROLLED BOTH MODIFIERS TO KPERF, then you upgrade and get a 3rd KPerf which you won't get if you fail to do as I said.

I've had good results with a Romulan plasma flamethrower combined with suppressive fire or persistent suppression (tac only) used in conjunction with kits like graviton spike, paradox bomb, and other pulls. All-in on aoe damage, debuff, and control. The flamethrower is a little memey but it does excel against tightly packed groups of targets.

Nurse DOff, spawns a nurse on use of hypospray heals, the nurse will follow you and heal you and allies. Don't forget, active DOff powers apply to your BOff's too! so it's always worth taking BOffs that match your career when you can.

Paradox corrector actually comes from the Delta Recruit Event not Temporal (although admittedly that would have made more sense.

I've been working on a space build for Random Elites since your video the other day, but I completely forgot there are ground TFOs too! Because so much of the game and the community is geared towards space stuff, there's quite a few things here I didn't know about ground optimisation! Kit Frames that provide [KPerf] for example - I've never really been sure what Frames to use and have always just thrown on the highest level drop/mission reward I get, so it's good to know more about that at long last! I tend to err on using the Red Angel armor from an event reward some years back for the free revive; plus, I can just reclaim it from the events tab rather than having to grind every toon through Reputation for the CQC armor. But I didn't realise the Mudd's Time Device kit module had a similar revive opportunity. I'll have to think about which of my many toons I want to dedicate to running Random Elites and really knuckle down and get them through all the Rep grinding.

Honestly, ground combat really isn't that hard. You just have to know what you're doing. It really depends on which career your captain is as to what you should use. Engineers are the king of ground but they kinda suck in space. Tactical is the king of space but very squishy on ground. Science is good at both but not the best at either.

Yeah, there's nothing in the game that really tells you what kit frames are really good for. They don't have any click abilities (well, some of the newer ones do), but there are a ton of them and they all have unique stats and passives, which, again, the game doesn't do much to tell you what any of those do. Probably because of how drastically kits have changes over the years since the game's launch. It's understandable to not understand much about them. Red Angel armor is a decent, easy option if you have it unlocked from the event. Especially if you're setting up a new character. But the set up I've got here is better for damage output while still being just as good for survival. Plus there's not EV suit for the Red Angel suit, which is weird, given how we literally saw Burnham fly through space (and time) wearing it.

The VAST majority, if not all Fleet Kit Frames come with Kperfx2. Should you need a cheap and easy one to get.

Cheapest fleet frame with KPerfx2 is the Romulan Embassy frame.... yes the Mk X one. gives you a few extra chances to upgrade quality too.

my fav build atm is Covert Assault Drone+Resistance is Futile with the lobi weapon Hur'q Acoustic Resonator, add large weapon packs and a few dmg kits and it kills every thing.

Combining Fresh From R&R, two seats of Pilot team, and Synthetic Good Fortune is a trick is use on Pilot ships to build up stacks of crit chance buffs.

I usually dont have trouble with grond elite TFO becasue less timing of crap to complete the mission ground is easier in elite than space ones are less time restrictions on a lot of them.

Ever notice Universal endeavor TFO's coincide with the random you signed up for?

The random TFO system doesn't just pair you with other players queued for randoms, but also in specific TFOs. So if 2 people are queued for Infected Space Elite, it can take 3 players in the random elite queue and pair them with those 2 players trying to play ISE. So when a specific TFO is the Universal Endeavor, a lot of players will queue for it, and if there aren't enough players queued for a full team at the time, the system will drag in players queued for randoms.

Would it be useful to have a clicky button on either the hud or on another easily accessed pop up that we could swap between skill trees without having to go into the main skill tree section? I.e hot swap as needed, so we don’t have to choose a dual skill set, Intel or temporal, to cover both as it’s a pain to go in & select a more appropriate tree, like u said in the vid, combat skill tree could work better for ground.

Oh, the Kuumaarke Visionary set is fantastic for ground. I just didn't bring it up because its event gear, so not everyone will have it. But yeah, if you have it, it's a very powerful set.

Jump between advence and elite on ground is smaller then in space. My character with rep/mission reword gear can hold there own. My engineer have CQC Nakul shield plus gun, romulan kit from uneasy alies. 2 kit modules from events (Sompek lightning and crystal granade) turret from ambasady, mine barrier, ambush turrets,equipment diagnostic with proper doff,disco rifle from episode and this is only thing upgraded to MK XV very rare. If you dont run into enemies but keep distance you can do elite tfos. Grind few critical injuries removal(never buy them on exchange) just in case.

Ground combat is completely broken in this game. Unless you kit yourself out to never be anywhere near the enemy, you MIGHT survive elite content. The A.I of the away team is brain dead, they will stand in the middle of hazards doing zero damage and healers don't heal you. I fought a harbinger for 20 minutes straight, reviving everyone as they stacked injuries. Until they fix that A.I There's literally no point in even attempting elite content on the ground.

So in one of your previous videos, you sarcastiacally mentioned how you love being told" I dont care about meta" well I have a challenge/request for you. Instead of always talking about best in slot meta builds for everything, as one of the few very good star trek content creators, why not do a few videos about how to get themed builds? if someone wants to rock all disruptors and not mix and match different types? or if someone wants a pulse phaser build on a connie? just some examples. It would be nice to see some suggestions and ideas on how to build viable outside the box things. Just for fun. :D

People saying they don't care about the meta is them saying they don't care about learning how and why the game works. That's really frustrating to me because a large part of what I'm trying to do with this channel, teach people how the game works. You don't have to strictly follow the meta, but understanding how it works is key to understanding how put together a build. Ship of the Line is part of the meta because of its impressive Crit Severity buffs, even if you don't have that trait, knowing that, you can find a a less expensive alternative that does something similar, like Improved Critical Systems or Super Charged Weapons. Or focus on a different stat that's also important to the meta, like haste or bonus damage.
