Enjoying your video while I take a short break from the garden this morning. That's what I'm doing here in SE Nebraska today. Just spent an hr. pulling up the green beans fence. Plan to till that area up and amend the soil before putting in some fall crops. Dehydrated 10 quarts of tomatoes so far. Canned 21 quarts of tomatoes. Still picking tomatoes today and the plants are going strong. Still have 60 pepper plants and I'll be canning some peppers later today when it gets too hot to work outside. Our heat index is over 100 yesterday and today. Very humid.

You guys, Danny and Wanda, have been an inspiration to me this year to keep going even at 60. My hubby and I turn a Round Top brand framework into a 12x20 foot greenhouse with raised beds down each side and mineral tubs down the middle. I harvested a nice amount of yellow squash from 2 plants inside there. I have some sugar pie pumpkins ripening. I have beautiful Roma tomatoes. And a second crop of peas, carrots, green beans just coming on. My ladyfinger popcorn is just starting to tassel. With some modifications next year we will grow even more. I aso have 8 4x8 foot raised beds that are always being rotated with new crops. 8 4x4 foot raised beds, done likewise and a garden space for potatoes, sweet potatoes, extra tomato plants and jack-o-lantern pumpkins that measures about 20x40 feet. This is downsized from when I had 2 adult children still at home. But still a lot of work for 2 people. The greenhouse has been a new experience. I can't wait for next year now. My sweet potatoes need at least another month. But thankfully no deer problems yet. I should have frost here in East central Indiana by early to mid October if the locusts are right. Fall seems to be coming fast.

I experimented this year. Used a regular 8 x 12 tarp and cut holes. Growing monster broccoli, tomatillos and peppers. It works great. Old "wives tale" that the ground needs "air". You can also grow in a plain black plastic silage tarp or cardboard laid on the ground. Good job Sir on your garden.

I hate weed fabric. I am digging that crap out of my flower bed. Someone used it & I don't know how or why, but it's under layers of dirt. Raspberry bush has grown thru & around it, Russian Sage & many other plants have gone thru it. They used it in an area that had been their garden, but it's a different kind, more plastic then fabric. Discovered that when we started to pull out saplings & older skinny tree's. If you don't know how to use it correctly, then don't use it. Doing it in rows & only have a few weeds to pull, is a good way to use it. 😊
