I usually find one the hard way mowing my front yard, around this time of year. It doesn’t seem to matter how hard I look before I start mowing, can’t find them with my eyes but find them with my feet

I got tagged 28 times by these little bastards, all most didn't make it, thank goodness a hospital was close, being allergic was no help either. Can't blame them, we need the bird's and bee's.

Yes, they are quite aggressive and the sting is quite painful and lasts for days. There is spray foam that can be sprayed on the nest opening. It's wise to spray at night when all are in there. Pouring gasoline down the entrance is said to kill them. Don't light it tho, the fumes do the work. Use about 2 cups or more. Some trap designs are available on KZbin.

I FOUND A NEST OF THESE NEAR MY CONDO. I simply filled a 3 gallon bucket with dirt, then jogged by the nest hole with the bucket, and dumped the dirt over the hole, clogging it, and thus burying the nest. I watched from a distance and saw several yellow jackets that were out forging for food attempting to enter their nest, but unable to locate the entrance. They flew back and forth several times. Ultimately, I presume the stragglers died from exhaustion and/or exposure to the weather (it rained that night), and those in the nest never got out.

I had the misfortune of running over a yellow jacket nest barefoot and shirtless when I was five. I remember smacking my back after feeling something prick me. When I looked at my hand it was full of wasps. Then I started screaming and crying. I was brought inside and the adults insisted I take a cold bath. That made me scream louder, "the water has to be warm!" Anyways, I'm in my 40s now, have a lovely garden, and those little fuckers are welcome to pollinate - but I do call them little fuckers at all times. 🙂

A little 7 dust at the entrance will kill them all in 24 hours.

Why did you first call them 'bees' when they are actually wasps? Do you not know the difference?

There is a nest in my front yard. I saw them from a distance out the window. But went out to investigate. Got about 3 feet from nest. They were coming out. Didn't get stung. I respect and give them space. Need bees to pollinate. 🐝 🐝

Yep. Very aggressive, very defensive. Was not bothering it. Got stung in the back of my left hand a week ago. Still red, swollen, and itches. UGH!
