Our psyche can be quite mean.. we have million reasons to leave, but after some time grounded everything is put up on a pedestal in our minds. I think it happened for a reason. I was flying too for some years and also miss it sometimes. However, I didn‘t want to get stuck. This job can become quite stagnant to a point where you don‘t enjoy traveling anymore, passengers treating you poorly,... You stop working on yourself, no personal growth, time flies,… you get to know new people all the time, but to 99% no real ever lasting friendships… it’s torture for your health.. and what I often noticed is that people who were flying for a long time often had severe mental issues. The job looks better on the outside really. I know that transitioning back to an office job can be really really hard, but I decided that at some point in time I need to make that decision, and the later it gets the harder it will be. I know why I left, but had such moments of regret too in which everything felt like THE dream job, which it obviously wasn‘t.

In all the videos by ex-EK crew that I’ve watched so far, you are the only one regretted quitting. All the other videos said otherwise. Is 35 too old to apply for cabin crew position at EK?

I think it comes with an approach you are going into this. If you are coming into Dubai and EK with an approach that you will fly, follow the rules and try to enjoy, you are usually fine and like it. It's an easy lifestyle with good money. If you are there for the wrong reasons, you will hate it. I'm not 100% sure about the age, but to be honest I think 35 is possibly too old for EK.

Thank you so much!!! It’s very hard to predict what the actual recruiter is looking for at that given time. Ive heard different atories these days! But in general, smile, be sociable but no loud, avoid using your phone unless asked for look for something. Try to use your colleagues’ names, do not interupt them when speaking (group discussion). When introducing yourself try to use something different than others or say it differently, try to connect everything to Emirates as a brand or cabin crew. I usually do as well in group discussions is i mention if somebody would like to keep the time so you do not run out of time without presenting the outcome. Just have fun with it, that usually get you less stressed and improves the result 😉

Hi! Can I ask how old are you? You mentioned that you might be “too old” now. I am asking because this is my concern as well.

Hi there, I'm already 37. ;-) I've heard, but not sure if it is still true is that from Middle East the only airline that is hiring older crew is flyDubai.

@@PetieMumbles Hey, try EY? You have a pretty good chance. As we speak they are actively hiring - Worldwide - you never know.
