Same for Frankfurt away, but overall Eintracht is up there in the top of Bundesliga atmospheres… and it is pointless to try and further rank those. The package of a trip to Frankfurt city, the stadium atmosphere and the football they play right now is pretty compelling.

As someone from the region, I think the supposed hatred between the fans of Eintracht Frankfurt and SV Darmstadt is overplayed. There are some of course who want this rivalry to be a thing, but they tried to do this with Mainz 05 (the third big club in the Rhein-Main triangle) yet after all these years there came nothing out of it, so most fans of these clubs meet each other with indifference. Compared to the rivalry between Eintracht Frankfurt and Kickers Offenbach, or SV Darmstadt and Kickers Offenback, or heck even Mainz 05 and Kickers Offenbach, this is basically nothing. More likely they all bond together because of their hatred towards Kickers Offenbach. Sure not to the level of the friendly derby the Scousers have but they won't beat you up if you go to the wrong bar.

The atmosphere is great because it's generally great in Frankfurt. But this is only the 3rd biggest derby for Eintracht. Kickers Offenbach and kaiserslautern are bigger rivals. For Darmstadt it is the biggest derby though.

No for Darmstadt it's the 2nd biggest derby after Kickers Offenbach. For Frankfurt it's the 2nd biggest as well. Kaiserslautern isn't even in Hessen, there's only some rivalry there due to Frankfurts friendship with Mannheim.

@@tkitn01 It might be true that Offenbach is your biggest rival but I'm from Frankfurt and trust me Lautern is a bigger rival for us than you are. A lot of us even rooted for you guys when you got promoted a few years ago. What has Kaiserslautern not being in hessen has to do with anything? They're still very close. Kaiserslautern and Mannheim aren't in the same state either... If you think Eintracht-Lautern isn't a big rivalry you're probably very young and can't remember when we used to play them.
