This is where my Great grandma Edna Burkey, my and Great grandpa George Burkey were from. My great grandma was born in 1892 and died in 1994 at 102 years old. That made me 14 when she past. My Grandma Evelyn was born 1915 she married my grandpa David Reinhart. She had 10 kids she has 4 kids in Pottsville then moved to Lake Milton, Ohio close to Youngstown to work in the steel mills. I hope these small town places do not become big cities. I love small towns. I can't wait to explore my family tree.

Wow thats about one quarter of pottsville they just keep circling the same area over and over. No highschool, middle school elementary school martz hall, either one of the three football fields or baseball field. Most of the nicer things to see in the whole city are missed

My Great grandparents and my grandparents are from Pottsville PA. I liked this small town.

What's going to happen to Pottsville? Who thinks it will survive as a city or town? The coal mine looked like it was a big producer but coal is practically outlawed and definitely no a politically correct form of energy. It looks like a very beautiful town but how can small town Pennsylvania be saved if there is no investment or source of jobs/growth? I'm very interested in the perspective of locals. Great video but is it a visual record of a town in decline? How can we turn things around for cities like Pottsville?

I live and own my home a co-op in Queens NY. I am thinking of buying a small house in Pottsville or nearby town as prices seem very affordable. I am not going to live there full time, mainly buying it so I can have a garage to work on my cars from time to time as I am an auto enthusiast..

They tax the crap out of us residents.(7 taxes out of my pay check) Only a matter of time until there is no one left.

@@tiredoldman5329 most of the suburbs around NYC, including NJ, the average yearly property tax is about 12k$ a year, so that is another resoning I am thinking Pottsville or nearby in schuylkill or northumberland counties.

@@blue88aw11 I understand. Taxes are always high around major cities. If you want to go out for a decent meal on the weekends you will have to head south to Reading. For some reason, we dont have many franchise names close by. hell, we dont even have a movie theater anymore.
