@@preetrapinderkaur7446 Thanks for the question. You don't have to do anything. Your doctor will use a sterile swab. It's kind of like a Q-tip or cotton swab. They will gently rub it around the rectum. Some doctors will insert just the tiniest amount of the tip but its usually not uncomfortable. Some providers will also use a second tip to swab near the outer part of the vagina however usually the anus is enough. It's quick and painless. The results come back in a couple days. If you are positive, remember this is not a STD, its just natural bacteria. They will give you antibiotics during your labor for the baby's protection. If you were to deliver before you got the antibiotics, they will monitor your baby closely. Good luck!

@@RaqMor13 I'm sorry to hear that. The test is usually painless. Its a small swab that needs to be rubbed gently on the outside of the vagina, perineum, and anus. I'm glad you got tested. It's important for the health of your baby.

So you’re saying even though someone gets the antibiotics during labor the baby is less likely to get early onset GBS but the baby WILL have late onset GBS? That doesn’t sit right with me, it makes me more scared and paranoid.
