I think you can change the jets on the carb to eliminate carb icing issues. I have the old MY19 version and the previous owner retooled my carb so no icing issues. Aviator used to sell a kit. You might see that you burn a little more fuel after the process after the upgrade kit is installed.

I thought it ended very well when you restarted it before having to land out! Thanks for posting.

Lesson a mate learnt on an engine out, he set up for an out landing, and did a fantastic one, realising after he had about 4 mins of glide before final commit, he could have tried to restart. First pull on the ground.... restart (He had cold hand, put them under his bum to warm them... while holding the throttle, guess what he pressed...). Assess and Reassess, got time to try a second or third restart? why not, Worked for you after all :D

Dealt with calmly, and all worked out. Happy ending, I would say! Great trip and excellent photos.... It reminds me of photos doctored with tilt shift, the difference is yours is real!!

You can buy little capsule heater elements that used to be fitted to carbed motorcycles. If you could mount one in the manifold it would heat up the body and prevent icing. I think they draw around 15 Watts so it could be powered by a 10 Ah battery which would give several hours of flight. If yu wanted to be posh you could build a control circuit so it only runs when needed so the battery would last even longer.

Thanks! This sounds great but I am doubtful to put the effort in to do this. I need an off-the-shelf solution that someone else could install for me.

I must pop over again to Wingland in my Kub. Have you been over to us at Cromer recently?

Hi Mark, You helmet setup seems to be very effective, good quality sound. I am in the process of building a helmet. Can you perhaps give me some detail of what equipment you are using? Thanks!

Sure it's very simple. GoPro 11 with audio adapter connected to a cheap Amazon lav mic which is routed down the headset into the muff.

I'm surprised Vitorazi hasn't developed a Carb Heat system.... They've developed pretty much everything else Fixed wing use :p

Maybe because it's designed for Italy and not the UK...
@1978sjtАй бұрын
@@markallisonparamotor They don't have icing in Italy?
@markallisonparamotorАй бұрын
The UK is an island between the Atlantic and North Sea and is very humid most of the time.
