The title reminded me how explotative those homes can be. Using the disenfranchised as a product and a paycheck without any regard to their well-being. Then someone like her comes around and reminds me of what's possible. We need more people like her.

She IS using the disenfranchised for profit. Matter of fact she’s doing that twice over; the workers and the clients. No professional training or background in mental or behavioral health required. She’s just the purse collecting state funding and pays others to do the dirty work. Don’t get it twisted, we do need facilities and i rather see a black family profit than another one of “them”. But make no mistake exploitation is happening for certain. It’s just business.

To be sure, there certainly are group homes that mistreat the people in their care, but it's mainly the power dynamic that makes such abuse likely. When someone with a neurological disability lives in a group home, they have few if any civil liberties, and because the group home paradigm gives staff almost absolute power over the clients in the facility, the caregivers tend to become somewhat dictatorial and there's a high chance abuse of this power will occur.

Been an RN for over 20 years . This is a tough, tough business. Mentally unstable people are no joke. Their behavior can be very unpredictable and you never know what can happen next . Talking about high liability. The team you running this business with must be top notch! She definitely nailed it with her team. She basically works on the business not in the business. That’s a real business owner not a business operator. She put her passion to work and that’s where true success comes from. Hands down to her! She is an amazing person. ❤️

Her company is doing great work and she has a passion for a neglected group of people. I do share the same passion and also worked with mentally ill adults and children so It is refreshing to hear that she is dedicated to it. This interview simplifies the bureaucracy with group homes. There are many policies to conform to according to the government guidelines. The homes are inspected by government auditors to ensure infractions. The financial aspect was just slid over. The host stated the profit margin but they did not go through all that she has to pay out monthly. There is business in every service or product that we buy so needs no excuse for the profit margin. My contribution is to add that it's not as simple as they make.

I think it was inspiring, and I think she’s a great person for what she’s doing. She’s also being rewarded for her genuine deeds. What a legacy and trail to blaze in honor of her sister! Everyday I think of doing something to pay homage to my mom, and to mental health in general. I was also in foster care, so I always considered being a foster parent later in life. God has been great to me! II know there’s group homes for children as well. I was considering that route. I’ve already started following her IG. I need to look at the course she offers as well.

I am in the same business but in a different state. This young lady being interviewed is the reason her business is so successful. This industry is largely about connection. The people stay because- based on her story- she genuinely cares. She goes that EXTRA mile! Clients are very intuitive and they can sense compassion. It is no doubt, lucrative for HER, but others seeking to duplicate her success, may get a very different result. I want to underscore the fact that this IS NOT a "turnkey" business per say. You can listen to this lady and feel her underlying anointing for what she does. I- am also THAT PERSON in my business and for the same reasons, have wonderful success. I only take those with an IDD diagnosis because of family members that I cared for- for free, and turned it into a business at the request of their case manager. You can be compassionate AND a business woman in this business. But to achieve her lever of success requires more than just a desire to make money. These are people's very fragile lives so please be extremely mindful of that. She is anointed. Take an honest eventory of your skills and motivations before attempting to duplicate her efforts. And if you have that annointing- Go for it. This industry needs more people who genuinely CARE!

I worked at group homes who put the money over the kids or assisted adults. Level three kids are not a bag. They are humans that deserve to be loved and heal from their traumas. Kids do not deserve the treatment they receive at these homes. I have never seen a large group home that was not a place of chaos and abuse. Don’t let me get on the level of pay and the staffing issues. I could tell you stories for days. I got burned out and switches back to IT and Instrumentation. I would never do group homes unless I could make it about the improvement and healing of the clients in every way.

God bless you for taking care of your sister, I'm a caregiver as well for my grandmother and I used to take care of my brother, but he had to go to a long term care facility. You definitely have to have a heart to do what you're doing❤️much success to you. Maybe I need to look into this as a business.

For those who don't know what a C.F.O. is. Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior executive who manages a company's financial health and strategy. They are often the second-highest-ranking person in a company, after the CEO.

This a hard job. To deal with troubled teenagers especially when they have mental health issues is not a job for the week. That's why the group home make so much money.

How much money do I need to start a group home for single homeless women? I'm currently homeless, for 10 months now. No mental illness or drugs just happened to loose job. I leave this month, thank God. I want to give back by helping women have a clean and safe environment to focus on a new way of living. Please send any information, thank you.

What kind of employees does each home need to come through on the regular to take care of clients? Like by state regulations, does each home need 1 nurse, 2 CNAs in and out to do care?
