Run deeper, you'll start to find grunts/porgy, keep running and you'll find more snapper. This fishery is getting pressured hard near shore.

We fish for grouper with pinfish or grunts cut in half and do really well because they stay on the hooks better than frozen sardines. The best bite right now is in 100+ feet to get keeper grouper and plenty of snapper. The water is hot but it will be cooling down toward the end of September so deep sea fishing will be picking up.
