I feel like the distinction between cheating and agreeing to an open relationship needs to be made. Cheating means you didn't discuss it beforehand and are lying about it. It's dishonest, disrespectful, and hurtful. Whether you're polyam, monogamous, vanilla or kinky, as long as it's openly and honestly discussed beforehand, I'm definitely in the do what's truest to you camp.
@steisme35 жыл бұрын
Can't personally agree with how dumb said that cheating should be acceptable at the end. I still think it should be continued to be viewed as a negative thing since it's betraying trust and hurts people who want to be in a closed relationship. However, it was good to hear different perspectives even if I disagree, so thanks.
@colorfulcodes5 жыл бұрын
Yep. Even open relationships have cheating. Maybe he meant open should be normal.
@chancegoss6235 жыл бұрын
Don’t agree either. I think he’s saying that because he’s not really relationship type of person. He’s surrounded by friends that cheat and doesn’t mind. He’s also cheated as well. If he finally falls in love and his girl cheats on him, he would not say it’s acceptable.
@seaniipogii49705 жыл бұрын
Ya’ll hella misunderstood my boy. He said that if he feels the need to cheat then she wasn’t ever the one in the first place. So if that were the case, he would just break off the relationship he has with his girl.. Hence why he said he’s never really in longterm relationships. Its not that he condones cheating, its that if he feels the need to, then he’s gonna bounce. Better to end it there and not hurt any feelings then to cheat and keep a useless relationshio going. He believes in open relationships is what i took from what he said.
@_Maxten4 жыл бұрын
idk if he meant cheating-cheating. i know people who say "cheating" but they just mean not be monogamous.
@sportyjen625 жыл бұрын
cheating shouldn't be acceptable. If you communicate from the get go that yall want an open relationship, then it's not cheating, no trust is broken, just talk to your partner
@k0rr15 жыл бұрын
If you want to keep it open, keep it open, but if both parties mutually want exclusivity, then be exclusive. Cheating isn't okay because it's a breach in trust. You gave your word, so keep it. Really that simple.

Strangely enough I always struggle with the concept that Rick explained. Ideally in my mind an open relationship would allow both parties to choose to stay together but seek other needs from another person. It sounds good in my head but my own jealously would take over and ruin that concept. I personally want exclusivity but I also do not want to make my partner resent me. It's a hard balance and communication is key. My biggest fear is the spend so much time with a significant other and keep second guessing if I should stay with this person and miss out on a better partner or just end the relationship early and GO look for the better one. The grass is always greener on the other side is also a common problem.
