You've done an amazing job training these Setters.

They make great pets but prepare for an active lifestyle! I once took mine on a 20k hike over hills and the very next day she was jumping around for her daily walk

Well, I have my own Irish Setter, and well :D I don't have her for hunting, cus I can't even have a gun (yet) but she is awesome, when she was like 4 months she was guarding and deffending my little brother :) but if anyone want to have Irish Setter, you have to think about how manny time you can spend on taking this dog out, it will take lot of time to make them tired, in Angie's case it's about 5 hours to get really tired, but after 1,5 hour she has already enough energy

This sunday we are getting our Irish Setter pup. It's a bitch, our last one was as well. She passed away on the 13th of January, she was an amazing first dog!

How is it going with your new pup??

@@Connjur Didn't expect a reaction after this long. She is doing great and she's is healty. Tinja has a lot of engery and goes to the forrest with my dad everyday to jump, run and scare off birds (she loves that). She loves to sit on my or my dad's lap, combined with belly rubs makes her eyes close. Sometimes she feels alone or scared at night and climbs up the stairs to sleep with my little brother. Tinja is afraid of my uncle's Weimaraner and loves my other uncle's Golden Retriver. The Weimaraner is about her age (almost 2 years old) and the Golder Retriver is 4,5 years. We go to Norway each summer and Tinja loves it there, the woods, the smell of nature and being free. When she was a pup she was very naughty, but that changed because we kept loving her and now she can't live without us. She is starting to mature more and more and her personality is great. Love Tinja!

I'd love to have an Irish Setter. In Canada right now, it's difficult to find the kind of puppy you want. Breeders often don't answer emails, or they're not having puppies for a while, or they're all sold out, or they make it difficult in other ways. It's all the fault of covid, I'm sure, but I've never had so much trouble finding a puppy. We wanted an English or Irish Setter, or an Airedale, and it's almost impossible. Distances are a problem, and I'm particular about the breeder. Rescues you can find, but they're not always suitable at all.

In Ireland ,Irish Setters are very rare, there's way more English Setters - easier to train. '
