Available in solid Maple and Walnut, Grovemade’s new speakers look as interesting as they sound.
The nautilus-looking hole up top is the business end of what audio engineers call a back-loaded (or rear-loaded) horn design. The idea is to extend bass presence and depth by reinforcing the low frequencies coming from the back of a smaller driver like the 2-inch full range driver at use here. The use of a 2-inch full-range driver creates a speaker with really good stereo effects and imaging properties.
The Amp portion of this system uses a 25-watt per channel digital amplifier, and is outfitted with only one set of analog RCA inputs. Modified binding posts link to the speakers thanks to included cloth-covered speaker cables.

Beautiful wood enclosures! The only thing wrong is the nasty looking joint between the two halves. need some work on that for high end look.

Thats not a t line. Did you not even listen to what the guy said? That's not even what a transmission line enclosure looks like... it's a folded horn.

That grill is about acoustically transparent as a cheese grater . Looks like a Fountek FR58EX 2 inch Neodymium Full Range Speaker , which is ok, but that Chinesium childs toy radio amp.....Other that that, I love the design.

Mitch King Exactly what I thought! And same applies to those gold plated banana plugs. All that is to justify the price, which is ridiculous. Those are speakers for hipsters.

CNC time plus gluing, soldering, and the making of the amp puts us at 200$ per pair to make?

Haim Peretz Why? They are unique speakers...you must not be aware of the vast world of audio, where speakers can get INCREDIBLY expensive. Also not every audiophile is an Apple fanboy, don't know where you got that one...

$600 is nothing for a unique, machined, hand assembled and finished item like this. I'm doing something similar, and I'm looking to charge about the same after all my costs and time spent making them is considered. Things get expensive when they're not mass produced and Chinese-manufactured.

I would very much appreciate not seeing the join showing where the two halves meet. It's unsightly, and detracts from the otherwise outstanding design of these speakers. Just seeing that join puts me off from buying them, because when I pay good money for the best, I expect the product to look fantastic in every way. And the cable at the rear..get rid of it and replace it with decent cable. You should take a serious look at Paul Klipsch's folded horn enclosures and see it you could better his designs...which I doubt. I am disappointed.
