This truly is the most detailed video on Neps I have found anywhere, including Google, however I still cannot find requirements on the Ventrata I purchased last June. It came with 4 pitchers, and I clipped them in November when they shriveled and dried. Through my TN winter, it stayed in my West facing window, getting 2-3 hours of sunlight. It's doubled in size, but still no pitchers. I moved it from a 3in nursery pot to it's current 4in pot, still with Spaghnum moss, stays moist but not soggy. The past month, I've moved it to my covered deck, again getting am direct sun from 8-11am until the sun rises above the ceiling, but all day indirect light, still no pitchers. I'm aware that ventrata is more tolerant, being a hybrid between Alata and Ventricosta. Does anyone know where I can obtain specific requirements for a "Nepenthes Ventrata"? Thank you 🙏

Temperature 15-30 degrees Celcius, humidity above 50%, rain or pure water, can use pipe water depending on how water supply is treated in your area, if the plant has produced too many basal off shoot, cut the main stem or basal off-shoot (leave 1 or few stem) make sure plant's basal off-shoot is visible and stable before cutting the main stem, I usually re-root basal off shoot by cut it and sticking it in sphagnum moss. it could be that mineral has build up in the soil media (possible after a year ot two)

Hi I’m from the uk and new to carnivorous plants.Can you give me some advice please.I have a pitcher plant and I want to know do I need to keep it in a saucer of water all the time or can I just water it enough to keep it damp.Also do I need to put any water in the pitchers or will the plant do this itself.Thankyou for your videos they are verygood

Kinda late, the pitcher will fill the water itself as long as the humidity is high. The tray method can be used but allow the tray to dry before filling it with water again.

Orchid bark, such as Orchiata (Pinus radiata), is a great addition to Nepenthes mix. Orchiata tends to break down much slower than other pine or fir barks.

Is there a way of telling if a nepenthe is a high or lowland?I recently went to a corpse flower bloom and they were selling carnivorous plants.unfortunately they didn’t have specific names so I’m not exactly sure which type it is to give it the proper care.it was only labeled nepenthe “monkey cup” which is very broad I’m finding out.
@PositiveRaincloud3 жыл бұрын
Do you have google lense on your phone? You can take pictures of plants and it'll show you what exact type it is. If it was called Monkey cup though, it's probably one of the super easy care ones. Maybe Gaya, Bloody Mary, or an Alata, and they're all tolerant of both low and high land conditions

I don’t understand how people grow these plants indoors because the humidity is like 30%. I had them outside where the humidity is higher, and they never produced pitchers because the humidity was always under 60%. Had them in plenty of good light, but never produced pitchers because the humidity is too low.

Hi David. Thank you for watching our video. Let's first state the obvious. You have strong emotions about this! Wow! We are always available to assist growers with their plants. You can reach out to us via Ask The Growers. Just supply us with the requested information and upload photos of your plants and set up. One of our growers will then get back to you. www.growcarnivorousplants.com/ask-the-growers/ But you seem to have found something that works for you. Great! The important thing is that you keep trying. If you are interested in seeing how some of our customers have grown Nepenthes without expensive setups, read our general care guide. www.growcarnivorousplants.com/nepenthes-care/ We also talk about Nepenthes (and humidity) in our digital download. We discuss the Nepenthes that grow best as regular houseplants (as we do in the video) and how to troubleshoot common problems. www.growcarnivorousplants.com/the-ultimate-carnivorous-plant-guide-for-beginners/ You can also read some of our responses to customers regarding their Nepenthes. We've helped thousands of customers since 2005. We're slowly combing through our database to post these questions since we only started doing so in December. But we've answered a number of questions about Nepenthes not producing pitchers. You might notice that, based on their photos, the common reason is not enough light. (Check out Q/A #34.) www.growcarnivorousplants.com/blog/ It might be that the LED you got provided enough light for your Nepenthes. But without knowing the full nature of your previous growing conditions, how long you had the plants in each location, the varieties you were growing, and seeing photos of your plants, we can't really say what was going on and which factors were impeding pitcher production. But the important thing is you found something that works for you.

What the hell are these people talking about? I’ve had my nepenthes for four months. Grown them in my south facing kitchen window as suggested with right soil and proper watering. Growth but no pitchers. LOW HUMIDITY. Tried growing them outside under a tree. Why not. Filtered light; they grow wrapped around trees naturally anyway. More humid outside than a house. Growth but no pitchers. LOW HUMIDITY. Made my indoor tropical greenhouse with LED shop-light, humidifier, 4 little fans for air circulation and my plants have been THRIVING!! Probably because I finally listened to the professionals I was talking to and gave the plants the proper requirements. So explain that one.
