Why would you swap out different bulbs? If you cant answer that question you shouldn't be recommending lights for growing...

The dimming by wattage feature is so handy for veg rooms. Starting off on a 250W MH at the seedling stage then graduating up to 400W or 600W as the plants grow is a great way to save power.

The Phantom is the only ballast I've ever had problems with. It would fail to start from the timer switch. Replaced the timer twice, but it would not start on time. It would start manually 100%, but failed to start from a timer half the time. I replaced it with a Qauntum and never had the problem again. What he fails to mention is that the Qauntum runs cooler and has the more stable frequency of any ballast he has on the table.

Great video I have a question now I have a 1000watt ballast can I use thus on a Mars hydro s1000? Or us it just made for hp or mental hilight

The dimable feature is for those who use their ballast as back ups , or need to turn them down in the summer. Why would I buy a 600w ballast at the same money as a 1000w. I may need a 600w bulb and ballast in late july august but may need a replace my 1000w hps . In mid winter I like to over clock my 1000w MH for the extra lumens and heat provided. I use the dimable option and love it.

All my plants go outside in May, and then back inside in October. The heat from the HID lamps is nice to warm up my house in winter, but ideally I'd like a GREENHOUSE with a wood stove in it.

I've been using Apollo Horticulture ballasts for over a year now and I love them. Their Purple Reign series adjusts from 400-1050 watts with several settings in between. I find this adjustability very useful. I can use 1 ballast for different setups at different times. Run a 400w veg with it and switch bulbs to a 600w or 1000w for flower. All you have to do is switch bulbs and adjust the ballast. Very versatile.

Can somebody teach me about voltage. I am looking at a 750 watt Gavita DE HPS. I don't know anything about voltage or electricity.

all "ballasts" are all made in China the western companies make their own aluminum housings & gimics brand name the recycle places won't take them because they contain PCB's been growing best in 4 corners for 20 yrs. truck loads of chinese mfg. electronic stuff timers , fans ,pumps hauled to land fill. 20 yrs. workin' alone full time job. American companies should manufacture these things for marijuana industry.

I would buy the lumitec ballast if I was looking for a digital ballast! but I think I will stick to my old school magnetic ballast, its served me for thirty years and works perfectly.

How can you tell if a ballast works without the lights? I have 3 and plugged them in and there was no fan noises or anything.
@ryanloon85334 жыл бұрын
so your saying the ballast thing you can switch light bulbs from 600hps to a 400w hps light bulb as long as you switch the ballast to the right wattage? interesting haha
@torrielandsman46253 жыл бұрын
that ballast was designed to switch from 1000w 600w and 400w bulbs. very versatile ballast. far better than dimmable as far as your bulbs go as they are designed to burn at their rated wattage.

I grow tomatoes, and squarsh and they need REST time, as in nature, so my lights get shut off every night for about 10 hrs. I also play classical music for them, from KZbin, and nature sounds like running water and birds chirping, all at the same time. At night I keep it quiet for them. (as in nature).

Lumateks settings are not for dimming 1k bulbs, but it runs all bulbs from 250 to 1000w.

Wish my ballast did that. It only has % dimming rather than specific 400, 600 wattages :(
