Lyrics:
Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When the day is done
We will be as one
God bless our love
God bless our love
Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting sun
When the day is done
God bless our love
God bless our love
Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end
Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end
God bless our love
God bless our love
God bless our love
Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it through
For our love is true
God bless our love
God bless our love
God bless our love
World without end
World without end
Amen

This is one of the prettiest and sweetest melodies/songs John Lennon ever wrote, and it’s crazy to think that many people have never heard it, and aren’t even aware of it. Made me tear up. 🥲

My husband and I were married 64 years, 5 months, 25 days, He went to the Lord 6 years ago. I was 16 - he was 20 when we married. I still thank God for bringing him into my life, but I still miss him so very, very much. Robert Browning words "Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be" is imprinted on our grave marker. My husband was a wonderful man who could and did make me laugh until our last two weeks together.

Clara, if I may address you as such, this is one of my dear wife's and my favourite songs. I truly believe that your husband watches over you and merely waits for the time you when join him, always remember "the best is yet to come." Nothing dies, it just changes form, may your life be blessed and your laughter continue as I am sure he would want.

This has to be one of the best love songs ever composed by one of the former Beatles John Lennon. It certainly hits your emotions every time you listen to it. The arrangement for this song with the orchestra and backing choir and the wonderful singer makes John Lennons song even more special. An awesome performance.

Well done! A wonderful arrangement for a beautiful song. The orchestra and choir did a marvelous job adding depth and breadth for emotional impact. I'm sure George Martin would have approved as he used the same techniques to fill out many of the more famous songs written by John, Paul, George, and Ringo, the last being the LOVE version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The Beatlesque Easter egg at the end was also a nice touch, adding the rhyme "Amen" - Greek for "Let It Be".

There's nothing in this world with such beautiful music from all of you. God has blessed you all with your instruments and voices. One more thing I thought to mention. Recently I bought a used mandolin hoping to learn and play it. Wasn't long after I gave it to my son who is a guitar player. These short fingers of mine didn't quite make it. John never got to do a proper recording. Had the song been fully finished and recorded, Lennon and Ono had envisioned it as a "standard, the kind that they would play in church every time a couple gets married, with horns and other arrangements". A few different home recordings of it were made by Lennon and Ono and one of these versions was released on "Milk and Honey". Recorded in the couple's bedroom on a cassette with a piano and rhythm box, it was the last recording ever made of the song by Lennon.

Nope. Adding the melodramtic "Amen" at the end is just too much. "Amen" is NOT a lyric John Lennon would have ever written into this song. That addition was never meant to be in this song. This song is a simply beautiful love song. Simple and Beautiful. Go listen to Mary Chapin Carpenters version. It is spot on! This song does not need 1000 strings to work, or the addition of non original Amen's into it. Adding that lyric at the end puts this song in a place it never intended to go. No thanks.
