Love your videos as ever. Yes the green parts of the onions are healthier than eating the bulb also because they are much lower in carbs than the bulb. I’ve also got some shop bought spring onions in a tray of compost in our kitchen window sill and they grow back super fast after trimming the tops for cooking.

Thank you i was just looking for this advice! Ive already sown my seeds on a pot and was wondering how to move them into the bed. Should i cover them with some fleece once theyre in? Im in the northwest of england and the weathers always unpredictable 😂

I'm trying to start a perennial bed of bunching onions. This will be their second year so hopefully they will start multiplying and spreading this year. Have you ever done this and if so how did they do?

People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones! Seriously though, my spring onions which I sowed 5 days ago in cells have just germinated. It’s the first time I have grown them so this video was perfectly timed.

I'm relatively new to growing them but I found through my own growing and from listening to others on KZbin that variety places a big part. I've tried white lisbon and lilia which are both very popular and had poor results. A generic bunching spring onion from Wilkos did really well. Have heard good things about Ishikura and the Tokyo Long I'm trying seem to be growing really well. Got some more called Ramrod which I've just sown so have to wait and see on those. Fresh seeds are also important with alliums including spring onions. Apparently germination drops rapidly after a year. So maybe get a few different varieties and see which works best in your soil/area.
