Yes climate is a factor. We generally harvest after about six months.

What fertiliser do you use?

Thank you for the video, am asking for the fertilizers I can use in onion
@greenspacezambia Жыл бұрын
@frankmwansa4411, We use a fertiliser specifically formulated for onions and tuberous crops which usually has a higher phosphorus content than nitrogen or potassium. If you inquire at most agro dealers, they should be able to help you get the right fertiliser for your crop.

Sir as one who has done farming for a long time how advisable is it to grow onions with D. I GROW GREEN as basal fertlizer and D I GROW RED as top dressing fertlizer? Only.
@greenspacezambia Жыл бұрын
I think the best to to reach out to the seed company where you buy the seed from. They have done a lot of testing on what conditions are needed for a good crop and have agronomist who can advise you specifically about what you need in your area.

How many ponches do u he from 1 hectare
@greenspacezambia Жыл бұрын
@wilsonchilumba8397, at our farm we don't grow onions for commercial production but rather for our own consumption. However, when properly grown, commercial production of onions can provide a good income.

According to some sources it only takes 4 months, or did you include the drying period when you said 7 months?
@greenspacezambia Жыл бұрын
It does depend where you are (climate) and the size you wish to grown them to.

Thanks for the video. However, maturity/harvest at 5-7 months is too long a time and this could cut across two seasons in Nigeria; rain - dry season, which from experience the variety for dry season(irrigated) is not compatible with that for rainfed. Hence this GAP is not compatible to Nigerian climate. Our onions are harvested 3-4months after transplanting in Nigeria.

5-7 months only happen in Zambia, here in kenya, maximum is 4 months
