Hello, really useful videos. Are you aware of a way to stop the battery discharging to the grid so it can be used to power my house only for a longer period? I try to use battery power between 1600 and 2130 but the battery discharges to the grid and I’m having to import again before 2130. Thanks.

Helpful David, thanks Need some details on the Load First and how the Battery settings affect the SPH.. When Load First is chosen you only have one option. That is Discharge stop SOC settings.. I m having issue when in Load First is SPH is passing thru the STop charge SOC and causing a Over Protections Alarm and disconnect.. does not in the Battery First option it stops charging at the Stop SOC.. there must be a reason in Load First being affected by some other setting.. as it ignores the BMS using CAN with Bat

Thank you for such clear videos. I want to stop discharging to the grid but not to my home appliances. Does this TOU-discharge setting you've shown only cover discharge to the grid or all discharge? Additionally, I would like to stop the grid charging my battery. I did try guidance in your other video. One problem is that when I disable the time periods, the setting does not 'stick'. Also, I do not have a 'battery 1st' option under the control menu.

Hi. Thank you for this video. Very clear. My question is, is there an optimum discharge rate that helps with the life of the battery? Thank you

Hi again, thanks for all the help, and as per the previous comment my installer is as useful as a carpet fitters ladder. question, at the moment I have 75% in my battery and a little coming from solar, but my inverter is showing energy from solar and a little from the grid, can I stop taking from the grid when I have battery power.

Hi David it seems to be a thing with this brand it seems too take a few watts from the grid all day

Hi again. You almost answered my question from the previous video on this one. Brilliant! But, I have made a setup, trying to follow your two videos, like this.: Charging the battery from 01.00-04.00. That is working fine. Discharging the battery from 17.00-21.00. Not working. The inverter start to drain the battery after it stops charging it to 100%. The battery is flat before i reach 17.00. Then the idea is some How gone! I would like to avoid using power from the grid from 17.00-21.00 and only use the battery. And between 21.00-17.00 grid and solar. We are using about 20.000 kWh a year so its a LOAD of Money to save if i can get this working! Does my description of my use makes any sense? Or read my description of my pricing in the first video I cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong!

Thanks for this video but they’ve now changed the app. Do you know if I can still stop the battery discharging when I have cheap electricity overnight? So frustrating that I can no longer use the TOU option as it has gone! Help would be much appreciated

Tnx.. good video.. I don’t have a feed in tarring yet. I top up the battery at night. I noticed during the day the battery is sending it back. How do I get the battery to force it to use for self consumption rather than send it to grid

Hi , thanks for the excellent videos. I manage to charge batteries off peak but some how house is not using that power and battery slowly gets discharged over 12-14 days. I am not sure what’s going on. And on app doesn’t show green arrows from battery to the house like you shown in your video.

In my app I can edit the TOU settings and it appears to save them, but when I go back into the menu after saving all the timers say 'disabled', although the times I entered are still there. It's not working though, because the battery carries on discharging at times it's not supposed to, and doesn't stop discharging at the percentage I set. Any suggestions? Also what does 'set PF save command' do? Mine is set to 'off'.

A useful vid, thanks. I’ve noticed my battery stops discharging at about 72% after midnight - I’ve not altered any settings - and instead of taking energy from the batteries the house is supplied by the grid. Don’t have any advice on this, please? Worth a separate vid as I see others have had similar issues? Many thanks.

I believe this is because the battery maybe set to charge overnight on your settings I will do a video on this though Thankyou 😁

Hi, I was wondering how I can configure my inverter so that from 6pm to 9pm the energy is drawn from the grid and not from the batteries, because in that time slot I have a free rate with my electricity supplier. Thank you

Hi, I have the shine app & just moved to flux tariff. I followed your instructions for changing the times for exporting to the grid but when I push done the message reads " note 501 modification failed yes". Can you tell me where I am going wrong please as none of the times I set are being saved. Thank you.

Hi, very useful video, thanks. Do you have any experience of Growatt Inverters limiting the power generation? I'm finding on days where we have full sun it's as if the system limits itself. We're on Octopus Flux which pays out generously between 1600 and 1900 - which is when the system should be going at full bore on sunny days - but we only ever seem to hit 2.7/2.8 kw, with a house and battery catered for.

My supplier keeps offering free electricity for two hour time periods during the day, the problem is my battery is charged and so during this time period it is discharging to cover demand and I am not getting the free electricity. Is there anyway that I can hold on to my charge and switch to supply from grid only during this time.

What is the lowest % level I should be letting my battery discharge to, wether powering the house or sending to the grid ??
@MySolarGen Жыл бұрын
I believe the recommended amount is 10%

I have a slight problem that I'm not sure is solvable but I wouldn't mind picking your brains :) I have an immersion controller that I want to fire in the morning, but ONLY if there is spare energy in the batteries. I do not want to use the grid for this at all (I'd rather use gas if I have to pay to heat the water). I've used the method in your video to force the battery to discharge which is then picked up by my immersion controller and dumped into the hot water instead. This works well, but the problem is that the battery drains to the pre-set SOC level, but will then sit dormant while it is within the time period. It will not discharge to meet the house load any more. Is there a way that you can think of to have the battery return to normal operation when it hits the "stop" SOC level, disregarding the time period? The problem with just shortening the time period is that I don't know how much charge is in the battery, or how much heating the hot water needs, and so on. Thanks!
@MySolarGen Жыл бұрын
I heat my water as follows Solar I boost uses excess power to heat my immersion heater/water during the day and at night I set my immersion to come on for 2 hours between 3-5 I generally get whatever I need for this from my battery that I have charged up during the day. I then set my battery to charge to 35% between 5-6.30 so I gave cheap night power in the morning before the sun starts charging it again. Everyone’s situation is different it’s finding that balance of what works for you.

Hi, I've try few times to set my one and it's not working it's saying Mision failed. For charging from 00:30-04:30 it's working fine, but for discharge from 04:30-00:30 it's not working, it is there any reason for this? Thanks
@MySolarGen2 жыл бұрын
Are you trying too discharge back into the grid or use the batteries for your house between 4.30-0.30 ?
@mikel123mikel2 жыл бұрын
@@MySolarGen I'm trying to charge only and not to discharge the battery from 00:30-04:30 as I have the car charging on this period of time and I don't want to use the battery for charging the car. That's why I've try to set up the discharge mode on app to be from 04:30-00:30, and from 00:30-04:30 while the car it's charging to don't use the battery at all. Thanks
@MySolarGen2 жыл бұрын
So when your time you set between 0030 and 4.30 finishes charging the battery the system automatically switches back too load first meaning your house will draw from your battery and your battery will discharge again you don’t need to set the discharge option on it.
@mikel123mikel2 жыл бұрын
@@MySolarGen yes but it's looks like the baterry it's charging 100% before 04:30 and then until 04:30 the electric car it's using most of the battery.
@MySolarGen2 жыл бұрын
Yes it shouldn’t do that from what I know when the time period is set for charging even if the battery is charged before the end time it will use any power consumption from the grid until that time ends. Very strange

This is so useful! I had a mail from octopus yesterday advising of a new trial of a free to opt in Power Up initative. Its all about them goving away renewlaable energy in slack periods. In short you get free electricity for an hour - they give you a days notice of when it will be. I wanted to know how to stop my battery from discharging and plugging everything in for an hour including EV and immersion heater . Ie. Take power totally from the grid without taking any from the battery at this time. I'm assuming i can do this by setting the value in the second box to a high value. Dirst one is due next week so will gove it a go. Thank you.

Thanks for the Vid very useful. I know it's a long shot, but I am just about to install Growatt ARK HV batteries to my Hybrid MIN 5000 inverter. Can anyone tell me how to add the batteries on Shinephone? I get to adding the seriel number but then it asks me for the "check code" What the heck is that and where is it? Thank you!
