Joe, this was another great episode but the reason I enjoyed it so much was the fact that you introduced me to another gardener who I can lookup and find more gardening information. I found your podcast this past Spring and then found Growing a Greener World. What I like most is the people you have on your show. From Margaret Roach, Meg Cowden, Niki Jabbour and now Melinda Myers. Not only do I learn from you but also all the guest you have. Thank you Joe and keep up the great work!!

So excited to watch this! I have a small backyard here in NJ but planted an Asian pear and a persimmon last Fall. Both of them were bareroot from the Stark Bros. I also have a massive fig tree that I just figured out last year that I had to wrap it in the winter. This summer was the first time I was able to eat a good yield of figs!

I'm in zone 7A & have Li & Lang Jujube, ripe when mahogany & I've never had to spray for bugs. Mine have no thorns, some Jujube cultivar do. Delicious & healthy!!! I have never had to spray my pawpaws nor my self fertile Meader persimmon tree. Everbearing mulberry is also a delight. Yup, I prefer fruit trees that require no spraying. They're all between 15 & 20 yrs old. I just planted some elderberries for the flowers & berries!

Wow. I planted 8 fruit trees, raspberries, blueberries and elderberries in January so am hoping I did it right. Fingers crossed 🍀☺️ Love your shows and podcasts. I'm only disappointed that I didn't find them sooner, then I'd be a head of the game 💜

9b - I love this show! I wish I had the room on my balcony to grow all the veggies I currently grow throughout the year AND blueberries, alas, choices must be made, however, I agree that there is always room for some fruit. This year I purchased two Kumquat trees (Meiwa & Marumi) the Meiwa is one year old and the Marumi is a two year old. The two year old Marumi had a harder time adjusting to its new growing conditions, it lost some foliage but is bouncing back nicely, i expect to get some nice fruit next year from it. The one year old Meiwa did not flinch a bit 😀, in fact, the Meiwa is supporting fruit right now! Thanks for sharing!

Put in 6 blueberry bushes this year and 2 big strawberry patches and 1 thornless BlackBerry. Next year is more thornless Blackberries and raspberries. I want apple trees bad but the are pricey and i haven't decide optimal placement yet.

We have a hard time to keep birds, squirrel, chipmunks, etc. eat our 2 blueberry bush. Please give us some suggestions. We use bird net over a frame, but birds trapped in the net, we have to cut the net to free them.

I planted a peach, plum and cherry in zone 6b ks. In ten years all we ever harvested regardless of our best efforts were a few cherries every year. The peach tree never had good fruit till the last year when we were inundated by so many peaches they broke the branches. We thinned like crazy! We sprayed with neem that year and still did not get any decent ripe fruit. The plums would NEVER ripen. I gave up and cut them all down!

I have taken the leap and added fruit. Blackberries, fig and blueberries grow themselves! I do not have luck with my 2Apple or 2 peach trees. Peaches fruit and get 1-2 inches big then drop to the ground? Any advise would be much appreciated. As for the apple, well I lost one of the two so I want/need to replant but have noticed a lot of what I believe are white flies on developing fruit. Neighbors have crabapples. How do I tree organically?

I've planted a plum, a pear and two hazel trees. I got four pears this year and it only went in this Spring. I also grow a Japanese wineberry. A lovely berry that freezes well and for some reason the birds don't eat. I've always grown fruit before veggies. Veggies are cheap to buy and fruit isn't.

I planted 14 apple, 2 plum, 2 pear and 1 peach tree when I bought my house 3 yrs ago ... I'm very disappointed ... squirrels got all the fruit ... big problem with Japanese beetles ... I'm putting up purple martin bird houses in Feb ... lots of work with no reward!

Fruit trees are Hard! I’ve tried several types of apple. In 8 years I’ve not gotten one apple. I’ve tried blueberry 4 years in a row. You need very acidic soil and ours is alkaline. Even in a pot I failed. So adding the soil acidifier didn’t work. Pears fail. Plums fail. Apricots fail. Grrr. I have one sour cherry that gets a lot of fruit, but they are small. I have gooseberry they do good. I had a red currant that did well for about 4 years . It died this year. Strawberry did ok for 4-5 years. Red Raspberry did. good but spread away from where I planted them and died. But I keep trying anyway.

Great Channel, but your titles are very long and the important part of the title (the actual title) is at the end and I don't actually know what the content of the video is about ... so would rather go to another video where the information on the content is a lot clearer ...
