Wow love this video. It reminds me how my Mom started her tomatoes every year. She never had a greenhouse just a kitchen window and steps much like in this video and everyone came to her hoping she had extra plants because they were so delicious. Thank you

These beautiful tomatoes taste like sincere friendship among all the people gathering in this wonderful celebration by nurturing joy and good feeling inside each heart full of strength to keep doing this excellent job, otherwise; you all wouldn't be so happy in this joyful moment in your lives, I wish I could be there with you all, by the way here in Brazil tomatoes are a little expensive to buy at the Supermarket 😊

I'm so happy to see the show is back. I look forward to all the episodes. I was just wondering if Craig separated tomato plants for the seeds he wants to save or does he just grow them all together. I want to save more seeds, but always worry about cross-pollination.

Responding to Ann Walsh- I viewed a presentation by Craig at the Seed Savers Conference in July and asked the same question to him. He answered that tomatoes were primarily self-pollinating so cross pollination between plants even if they are in close proximity was not an issue. Honestly, I was surprised by this answer; as a novice gardener, I planted several varieties in a plot together and did I ever get some weird looking tomatoes- all colors and shapes. The bees must have had an important part in that gardening year!

Loved the video. It gave me an idea of how I will be planting my tomatoes this year, using straw bales. How far ahead do you prepare the bales before the actual transplanting process? Fertilizing, etc. Thank you!

This is so helpful with ideas on the different ways you can grow tomatoes in a small space, which I have. I have been starting tomatoes for our local, food banks community garden. I provided them with 100 volunteers cherry tomatoes that provided the community 180 lbs of fresh tomatoes. I am finding saving the tomato seeds quite a challenge. Could you please do a show highlighting tomato seed saving? It would be such a help to me. Always Love what your doing. I've been watching on PBS since your very first episode. THANKS JOE!

This video gave me an idea of growing tomatoes in straw bales. I noticed your guest was spreading fertilizer on top of the bales. I assume he watered them too. How far ahead of transplanting the tomatoes into the bales this is done? Thank you, Joe!

I hate to complain, because I really do love your show, and look forward to each new episode. However, this episode is a rerun of Episode 803. No doubt, it was a great episode, but will there be new content in future Season 12 episodes, or will you be airing previously-run episodes? It worries me to see a show starting to do too many re-runs and flashbacks, because that usually means the show is coming to an end. I hope that's not your situation, because it's a valuable series. Thanks for what you do.
