As gardeners, we try to maximize all the space in our gardens to grow as much as we can in the space that we have. I have talked to several raised bed and container gardeners about growing tomatoes in containers and the majority of them don't like to grow indeterminate tomatoes in containers!
In todays video, I'm going to show you & y'all how I grow large indeterminate tomatoes in small containers!!
A big thank you to Vego Garden for supplying their latest self-watering tomato planter to get my grow on!!
Check it out and I thank ya for watching!!
Dan

Years ago I took a tour of a tomato Greenhouse in the Columbia Basin Central Washington State at the Quincy Valley Farm Days in the 2nd week of September, Crop King greenhouse, 100ft X 100ft, you walked in and right in front of you was a 3" tomato stem laying on the ground, it ran 80 ft on the ground to where it curled up 4'! How it worked was that they would grow it up 4', harvest the tomatoes, lay it down on the perlite plastic bag, train it up, it would grow up 4', they would harvest the fruit strip the leaves, lay it down, train it up, they had done this over and over all summer after planting the plants in April! I had no idea Greenhouse growers did this! Great planting vid! Looking forward to seeing your progress this summer!

And The thing is determinate. Tomatoes only grow so high, and they put on their fruit all at once. Where an indeterminate tomato will just keep growing and growing for years, and it will put tomatoes out all year. for years. I've had them grow and produce for three years in a row.

Hey there, Dan! It's been years since I saw a youtuber using a 16lb bag of Jobe's Organics Tomato & Vegetable fertilizer. I'm guessing that's one you'd caught on clearance years ago? We're down to our last few bags we got on clearance at Lowe's in 2021, they have a 2025 expiration date. I haven't seen it in any local stores here in Michigan since then, even the smaller bags are getting harder to find. I hope I don't suffer any withdrawal symptoms If I can't find any more when I run out in a year or so LOL
