I had no idea how easy it was to know when they're ripe! I have only one experience of eating fresh figs from the tree: in italy, our school had an old old tree. But it still produced. The other students didn't know they were figs and left them alone. I didn't tell them either ;)

I have 2 figs - Southern BC Canada - (usually can't leave them outdoors over winter but mine are from a 40 yr old tree planted by an Armenian woman) - After 5 years, the figs are now very large - ripe early this year - so yummy!! Thanks for this video!

Hello, im a local Organic Nursery out here in the Sandy/Boring area. I was wondering if you would be interested in selling scion wood cuttings of your Negronne tree? Im doing some winter grafting this year and am trying to get my numbers up, but only have a couple small plants to get wood off of. It would be a tremendous help and i can pay or do trade for other varieties of fig or find you something rare you might happen to be looking for. Thank you.

Desert King has to be pollinated for the main crop. it is a San Perdo Type. Negronne hasn't to be pollinated at all. Maybe the Maincrop is just too late for Oregon. cheers

we don't have fig wasps here, we can't get any figs that require pollination. Thanks for visiting!

@@ParkrosePermaculture I think you get it already but I think they're trying to say that breba vs maincrop is just determined by length of growing season, nothing to do with wasps :)

I planted a chicago hardy fig this year in zone 6a. Do you do anything for overwintering or did you when it was a smaller tree?

I have heard that little bugs or wasp babies live inside figs- is that true- and/or, is it fine to eat them regardless of whatever lived inside them?

Figs produce really heavily and the overly ripe fruits definitely fall from the tree and attract ants, wasps, flies...We keep both our figs in the poultry run so the ducks and chickens can clean up any that fall to the ground.
