That's a great idea Carl, doesn't take up much room either. I'm wondering whether to try it with those root trainers you gave me, I've just emptied one of sweetcorn and beans so it is free 🤔😊 Great explanation too. Take care😊

@@Carl_from_plot_to_plate I wondered about parsnips but I thought they might need more space, I need to redo my parsnips due to my cat!

I think I’ll be giving that compost a miss at £24 a 75ltr bag. I like the idea but won’t the slugs still in crevices of the tray. However, I tried something similar with parsnips with limited success. I’ll be following as I’m interested in this technique for carrots. All the best

It isn’t cheep I can get it for £23 hence all the more reason to make our own compost … thanks for stopping by Sean 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I've been doing my carrots and parsnips in toilet roll cardboard inserts. I've been creating holes for them using the smaller diameter bulb planter, but it's slightly too narrow, so a bit of a faff. Watching you I've just thought why not just put them on the surface of the bed and bank the sides with wood or compost? Thanks for the inspiration
