Growing cilantro in a fence pot is a great way to have fresh herbs in a limited space. Here are the steps to grow cilantro in a fence pot:
1. Choose the right pot: Look for a pot that has a depth of at least 8 inches and a width of 12 inches. Make sure it has drainage holes at the bottom.
2. Prepare the soil: Fill the pot with well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. You can mix compost or aged manure into the soil to provide nutrients. I used @miraclegrow potting mix from Costco
3. Sow the seeds: I gently crush the seeds using rollin pin as shown in the video. Next Sprinkle cilantro seeds on top of the soil, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Cover them with a thin layer of soil and press down gently.
4. Water the seeds: Water the seeds gently but thoroughly, making sure the soil is moist but not waterlogged.
5. Provide light and warmth: Cilantro needs at least 6 hours of sunlight per day, so place the pot in a sunny location. Cilantro also prefers warm temperatures, so avoid placing it in a location that is too cold or drafty.
6. Water regularly: Cilantro likes to be kept moist, so water it regularly, especially during hot and dry weather.
7. Harvest the leaves: Cilantro leaves are ready to harvest when they are about 2 inches long. You can snip off the leaves with a pair of scissors or pinch them off with your fingers. The more you harvest, the bushier the plant will become.
By following these steps, you can enjoy fresh cilantro from your fence pot all season long.
