We are in Palm Springs, so gardening is a challenge. I've moved almost my entire garden to the east side of our back yard, from the west side that was in ground. The garden is now all in pots. Right now I am harvesting one cherry tomato plant. Our lemon tree is flowering, and producing fruit, the orange tree is not, yet. The grape vine has one small new leaf growing. The herbs are doing well. Pineapple is doing well. We've had trouble with our fig tree last summer, but our kumquat tree, which is taller than the house in the ground is producing. We got a great harvest of olives from our tree which was planted out front when the house was built in 1962. I cured them, and they are in the fridge. We have date palms, and they have never cross pollinated, male /female. If you have date palms, I'd love to see a video on them.

hello California Gardener, the dwarf fruit trees are easier to manage if you're living in a residential area. Pest control, regular pruning and fertilizing, dwarf trees are best. I like the Key Limes as well as the mandrine, great video as always! thankyou very much.

Hello, I received a dwarf Meyers tree for mothers day last year and I have watched over it very carefully because we here in Las Vegas do get down to freezing temperatures. We have warmed up lately and it is doing very well and producing many flowers. It's in a pretty big pot so I hope it does well this year. It has grown some but I may nred to trim some of the longer branches in order to stimulate more growth. Thank you for your videos...they are very educational and I have learned a lot from you. Ct.

Carroll Trent I don't think you need to worry about LV cold for a citrus tree. My sister has one for many years and was perfect until it stop producing. It's now been chopped. On a smaller tree in LV, I did apply lots of wood chips and hope it will produce. I (if Trump admin did allow me to travel) will be visiting later in spring.

My 15 yr old 6’ wide x 5’ tall Kishu produces 300+ fruits by about Dec. every year. It is growing in the ground. The issue is the skin is very soft so if you want to give a bunch of fruit away you need to clip each fruit stem with long garden scissors or pruner, just plucking them tears off the top part of the skin which exposes the flesh, not good. I fertilize three times a year and water about once a week, extra watering in a heat wave. I live in Orange County, Calif. Fruit is delicious and adults and kids love them for ease of peeling.

I have a lime tree grown from seed.. it has been 4 years.. no flowers no fruits instead it has many thorns.. how long does it take to fruit ?
@aidancampos57067 жыл бұрын
Ankita Shende You will probably not get perfect limes from that tree, citrus are grafted and most are seedless, so whenever there are seeds those are either hybridized from another tree or from the rootstock of the plant, you may not even get edible fruit. To answer though it can take up to 10 years for a citrus tree to fruit from germination to blossoming

Hi from North San Diego county! I love all your videos on growing veggies and fruit trees. I was wondering if this Kishu is the type of Mandarin that is sold in the stores as "cuties"? We planted a dwarf Satsuma mandarin in our raised border garden bed last spring but the fruits are larger and not as sweet as I had hoped. Perhaps we will need to try a Kishu to get these sweet, tiny fruits!

I believe that the “Cuties” are actually the Clementine variety - a regular sized plant, not dwarf.

I learned a lot here. I’ve had a pomelo tree for two years and it’s struggling I think it’s because I only get a few hours of sunlight and because I’ve never reported it when I first got it I didn’t know I supposed to. I put it in a very sunny spot and I’ve been fertilizing it but nothing but white fly battles once in a while

First of all, thanks for the making these great videos. I'm curious as to what potting mix you used that the plant flourished like that. I've planted many citrus plants in pots in a mix of 3 parts regular garden soil, 2 parts cocopeat and 2 parts composted manure but they aren't growing well. Can you tell me what I might be doing wrong?
@baroofy61796 жыл бұрын
I had made the same mistake. Using "Garden" soil for potted plants is apparently a bad idea since it hold a lot less moisture and often compacts into a harder soil. I switched to "Potting soil" for all my potted plants and I am having much better results.
