I’ve always heard it pronounced moo- loo- khee - yah. The Egyptian accent is different! Every country has its own way of doing things. 😄

The EGYPTIAN SPINACH has long skinny pods. Your plant looks just like mine. Strange, I am wondering if there are different strains of ES? I got my first seeds from Jake Mace who was a friend of John's I Also saw John's video on Egyptian spinach.

Egyptian spinach likes to dry out a bit before watering. Not too dry. There is a balance. So glad you are growing it. It is a wonderful green for salads and cooking and very, very healthy. Thanks for watching.

All my seeds sprouted and then instantly went brown, withered and died, when potted up in the same potting mix I've made for all my successful plants, bottom watered, started inside under a light, at 80 degrees indoor temp. Is this normal? Is this one of those 1 seed out of 20 makes it plants? Any other ideas?
@mystiquerose6206 жыл бұрын
So..it probably won't be a good idea to plant the 2 types close to eachother if saving seeds?they would probably cross germinate, right?thank you
@hokchigardensandhomestead67976 жыл бұрын
I do not know that Egyptian Spinach is one that cross pollinates. It doesn't have flowers so I would say no.

I enjoyed the video, my question for you is how soon can you began to eat after planting Egyptian spinach?
@hokchigardensandhomestead67974 жыл бұрын
It takes maybe a month for the leaves to get to the size where you would want to pick. All areas are different so just judge by size. Pick too young you may stunt the plant growth. But once it is established it will love the pruning. Where ever you pick a new steam will emerge. This will give you a bushy plant. That is what you want. You will have more greens.

These have different seed pods than the traditional egyptian spinach plant that I've seen. What variety is this that the seed pods are round vs the elongated seed pod that like a pea pod just tiny.

Hi. Love your video but other videos featuring "Egyptian Spinich" show a different type of seed pod. Are you sure what you're showing is Egyptian Spinich? I would love to have seeds but I think Mr. Kohler is way too busy to answer my inquiry for seeds. I am confused.

Yes what I have is Egyptian Spinach. There are several types. What I have is a Heirloom, Non GMO - Molokhia, also called Jews Mallow, Saluyot, or Jute.

Great informant video. Please, question.... I started frowning mine which are about two feet in height and they are starting to show little yellow flower buds. Does this mean that the seed pods come next? Thanks
@hokchigardensandhomestead67974 жыл бұрын
The flowers are very tiny. I never really notice them before they start the seed pods. Depending on which kind you have it will be round or long and thin. They will turn black. Wait for you plant to die back before you harvest the seeds. Some will drop in place then you will have HUNDREDS to start in different areas of you garden and to share with others. Happy Gardening. Thanks for watching.
