Growing freesia for cut flowers

My Autumn planted spring bulbs are doing really well in their containers but my freesia are looking a.bit floppy so I am trying to give them a little bit more support to ensure nice long, straight stems come spring.

I rescued some freesia from a friends planter and it bloomed… lots of babies that will hopefully bloom next year… can’t wait! And they are floppy! I will definitely have to do this too… thanks!

Our very strange late winter weather has killed off lots of my freesia this year which were looking so big and beautiful. I’m hoping I will still get some but I guess I will have to wait for next year for a big bloom. Good luck with yours.

So when do we plant them outside in the garden? I’m in Maryland 7a, last frost date is May 15th.

I have just put my freesia bulbs in the ground for next year 🌱 I am planting them on the allotment this year instead of a container and will be putting a video all about it up tomorrow on my channel.

What media did you use to grow freesia??

I direct sowed the bulbs in to my allotment garden which is pretty sandy soil that I try and correct with compost.
