Containers are always a good idea for growing tropical edibles, like the choices ginger & turmeric. We also added a fig, and transplanted blueberries into large pots.

Are these hedychium ginger? A friend gave me a turmeric plant last fall and I planted it in a sheltered location. It's been up for a good while now and survived my 8'F winter low. Gingers, of course, are extremely hardy.

Regarding the blueberries needing acid soil, I wonder what the PH is in Soil3?

The soil3 is neutral, which is better than my native soil which is rising to over 7.

My neighbor built a fence several months ago, putting a fence post 4 feet away from my 30 year old blueberry, and it's leaves emerged yellow for the first time ever. I'm thinking peat moss might lower the PH.

Brie, you started the ginger and tumeric last fall. It is July, I just got some ginger and tumeric from Wegmans. Can I start them now (in July). I live in western wake county.
