I live in CT. It's very hard to grow joshua trees. I have no luck. No growth on a 6 inch tree that was purchased on eBay. I think once you disturb the roots, they slowly die. I started it again from scratch, I have 6 seeds growing from a grow light and they are doing well. About 1 inch. Which is more growth then the others I have had in the CT sun all summer. Once it gets warmer, I'll keep them in the sun. Cool video

At first I thought it was smart of you to germinate the seeds in just plain water, but then when they germinated you just buried them in soil and they had to start working through the soil again from scratch. When you follow the instructions on the seed packet and germinate them in a light mix like vermiculite, they have a weird way of germinating, in that the seed hull stays attached to the cotyledon. If you were to transplant it at that point, you would stick the white end down into the soil, with the seed end up, not bury the whole thing. In the end, it’s probably better to germinate them in some kind of succulent mix or vermiculite.

Hey! Thanks for the video I’m trying to grow these myself. I’m from the UK. I doubt I’ll have much luck in this cold country. Do you have an update on how they are doing now?

Same here. Start with a grow light, don't disturbed the root system. Keep them warm. I use a product called superthrive, mixed with fertilizer. Phenomenal setup.
