I'm so glad you found my video. So many people think it's mold, but they are actually thirsty little seeds asking for water. This is why it's important to rinse them twice a day. Also, broccoli tends to smell because it's broccoli, lol, so many people throw it out. But if you rinse broccoli twice a day and some people rinse 3 times a day, then it's all good..

Great video, I grow microgreens and when I have 'extras' I will either 1) pickle them, with a cold brine OR 2) dehydrate them into a powder and use them on/ in almost everything. Both of those are great options for sprouts also. People get confused on the difference between the two, for one reason is we call alfalfa microgreens 'sprouts' when a sprout is just the tap root NOT the infant plant. What you see in the store is actually alfalfa microgreens, not sprouts.

6:13 The seed coats do not need to be rinsed out at the end as shown. You are only using a grid that is too small when growing sprouts. Larger meshes cause the seed pods to be removed during rinsing. To begin with, simply insert a piece of nylon stocking so that the ungerminated seeds cannot get through. as soon as the sprouts have grown a little, the nylon stocking is no longer necessary.

❤ Great video! I am a psychologist and have recently been doing a bit of research on the benefits of sprouts and mircogreens. Organic broccoli sprouts, in particular, are full of sulphoraphane which is great for the gut microbiome which is responsible for 90-95% production of overall total neurotransmitter production in the body. Sprouts and microgreens are also so densely packed with micronutrients x20 all the way up to 40x more nutrient dense per gram than their fully grown, broccoli floret head (adult) counterparts, that support the beneficial bacteria in the gut which are then responsible for strengthening your immune system, eliminating free radicals & oxidative stress and have highly anti- cancerous properties. Sprouts and microgreens are the no.1 most densely packed natural source of many essential vitamins, minerals and proteins (/natural amino acids are always better than taking synthetic pills). Eating freshly sprouted microgreens daily is the best way for maintaining your general health. Many urban families lack micronutrients in their diets,due to modern day agricultural practices which cause soil depletion and eating G.M.O ( non- organic), pesticide laden, commonly consumed supermarket fruits and vegetables lack all these essential vitamins and minerals. The links in the description below and your explanation was absolutely great, so thankyou very much, I cant wait to start sprouting and putting all the theory into practice.This was a very helpful video, thanks again! 💯👍🙏💎

I also heard that we have to watch out with alfalfa since this is the only (or one of the few) seeds where sprouting enhances the lectins in the seeds. While normally (all other seeds) lectins will get less or disappear in the sprouting process. Lectins are poisonous to us, therefor it’s always better to sprout then to eat the seeds. But with alfalfa apparently it’s a different story. Just search in KZbin or google for alfalfa and lectins.

I had been buying Broccoli Sprouts at the Santa Monica Co-OP for 20 years because in the veggie dept. there is a book of nutritional facts and Broccoli Sprouts have the highest antioxidant levels and nutritional value. They are delicious, my favorite. I will now be sprouting them myself.

Wonderful insights for success 🙌🏽 06:05 I imagine if you have other potted plants they would love those empty seeds for growing instead of letting them down the drain. Ty for pointing that out.

I love to try growing my own microgreens. My eldest son doesn't like to eat meat or chicken. Either seafood. As you mentioned, it is a good source of protein, and then i need to try this for a healthy salad and easy to prepare too. Can be eaten any time, even snacks time with burgers. Thank you very much.

Yes, it can be eaten anytime, its healthy and delicious 😋

Very good information, thank you so much! I bought Broccoli seeds but wondered why they were not sprouting. Poor things, they are drowning in water. I am going to buy the sprouting lids on your link. Many thanks! Very educational. By the way, you are so lovely and in such good physical shape, well done!

Aww, thank you very much! ❤️ there are a couple of things that can be wrong with seeds when they don't sprout. 1 they can be old even from the store and 2 sometimes we over soak them especially broccoli seeds. This company, Mumm's seeds, suggests only 2 to 4 hours, but other companies might suggest different timing. Check the seeds you are using on their website for instructions. It's best to by from the source so you know you are getting fresh seeds.

I was given a jar with mung beans along with written directions. Everytime I tried to sprout them... they molded!!! I was SO dejected. Thank you for this video! Now I know to space out the seeds for room to grow!🎉🎉🎉
@splashofgoodness Жыл бұрын
Hi Stephanie, yes definitely use less seeds as mung beans need the room to breathe like any seeds and also take less time to sprout. 3 days and they are done. Happy sprouting!

I'd recommend adding a few Dandelion, Sow Thistle, Nettle and Watercress seeds to your mix. The Medicinal Power of these plants is Phenomenal and you can gather all you need in your neighborhood, although the Watercress is found in small streams.
