If anyone is wondering..this worked for me.. the seeds have started to sprout exactly after 14 days.. out of I think 50, 5 germinated so far. But I'm still happy.. I think in another 2 weeks I should be seeing a more of these sprouts.. Also I put one ziplock bag inside the house and one outside coz I wanted to test if the cold temperature helps.. both of them have 2 sprouts each.. I'll keep you posted in another 2 weeks if both perform the same way.. Update: the bag I put inside my house had 4 sprouts with leaves, I planted them and closed the bag again. The bag I put outside did not have any germinations even with the freezing temperatures outside. (Lavender seeds need to be put in refrigerator for 3 weeks traditionally for germination ).

Thank you! I love this method. Watching seeds fight for a cell just feels so wasteful. I’m going to try this method with African daisies. Their germ rate is 7-15 days rather than lavender’s 14-28. I eagerly check them 100x a day, so I’m sure it won’t be a problem for the lil cotyledons. Thanks again for this brilliance. I really appreciate it.

Hi Matthew, I am waiting for my lavender seeds to arrive and the online store here in Malaysia only sells 5 seeds per pack. I bought 4 types of lavender, namely English Lavender, Spanish Lavender in pink, purple & dark purple. I really need this to work. I watched some other videos and your video here is very clear cut. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge but I do have some questions. 1. Do I need to put the ziplock bag in the fridge for 8 weeks first and then only give the seeds some sun by putting it near the window? 2. After the seeds germinate and I transfer it to the small pots do I give it full sun or do I need to put it in shades? Here in Malaysia the weather is hot and humid with rain. Really appreciate if you help me with the questions above. Thank you.
@growwithmatthew90803 жыл бұрын
Hey I appreciate your comment! 1. From my experience I didn't see a big difference from putting it into the fridge and not. So I would recommend the window sill from the beginning 2. In that case, gradually ease it into full sun e.g. 1 hour on 1st day, then 2 hrs, then a bit longer every day. Keep them in pots as you can move them around at ease! Beware that the water requirements may be different indoors vs outdoors climate, so you'll need to judge case by case! good luck!!!

@growwithmatthew90803 жыл бұрын
Hi! I'll try to answer as best as I can 1. I put the plastic bags at the window sill, in room temperature with moderate amount of sun during the day 2. no holes for me. just normal ziplock bags 3. I think it's better to end up with 1 plant per pot. But if you don't have enough pots to start with, you can definitely put a few in per pot, and try to separate them when they grow bigger. Because some will unfortunately die in the process
