I’m growing lemon trees and I hope they become and beautiful as those.
@NMW804 жыл бұрын
How is your lemon trees? I am growing them too by seed and mandarins. They are so easy to grow imo. Super easy to germinate as long as you give moisture and warmth they will sprout and then straight into a pot and now I’m going to protect them all from the frost until they are big enough. I hope I get some nice lemons out of them. I only just started my mandarin seeds 🙏 I hope they turn out nice to eat. I’m sure they will be fine cos so many people have grown fruit trees from seed and it’s absolutely fine they are all healthy for you at the end of the day so that’s the main thing.

@@NMW80 I have a mandarin plant it is about 7 inches and a year old yes a year but they take a long time to get fruit usually about 4 to 7 years mine is still small so I’d say for mine it will be 4 more years but you can grow them as long as you give them water and a somewhat big pot then you can transplant to loamy or somewhat clay type soil good look on your plant

@@ispeedyseed8738 sadly all the stupid slugs ate most my mandarin seedlings. The lemon seedlings all going fantastic though. Have lost a few but I grew so many so I have plenty left lol. Maybe I need to upsize the pots for the mandarin seeds. They didn’t grow and some are alive but the leaves keep getting attacked. The roots and stem are green and alive still. So who knows they may make it and bounce back I don’t know 🤷♀️ I am going to grow some new mandarin seedlings soon as spring time comes where I am.

@@NMW80 no pests luckily but they have been some bugs starting to eat the leaves now but it’s doing good I recently gave it a bigger pot about 2 gallon pot from a 3 quart pot it has gotten somewhat bigger not a lot still growing it’s leaves the only pest I’ve had where some slugs too but they haven’t been around anymore I live in a zone 8 so it’s about good for mandarins and I actually don’t know it’s variety I got some seeds from my kids cuties and they where supposed to be seedless but I found 3 in his and I just took them and threw them in the pot and they all sprouted and 2 actually died by some insect eating the leaves and the other pulled through and so I have it still and it’s doing pretty good also I’m pretty sure they are California mandarins if that’s what cuties are but I’ll just gotta hope I get something good out of it and yes they are mandarins I’ve had some before but they where attacked by root rot and the roots when I got it where rotting and it died good luck on yours tho

@Orthosaur75323 жыл бұрын
Hello! I tried to make my own technique for growing tangerines - I wiped out part of the peel of a single tangerine seed. I put it and other tangerine seeds in a bowl, that I released some water in the bow and after that I putted napkin on top of the seeds. I am not sure, but I think that the one I wiped out a part of it's peel is germinating. I can't be sure, because the napkin is green and the bow is also green. Also, I have planted tangerines before, but I didn't have a technique - I just "buried" the seed under the soil. Five tangerines grew. Only one of them survived, bit it died in late october/late November last year.

Lol it takes way longer to grow them from seed for me. The shot where you said 21 days, mine are not even that big at 6 months now. Maybe I need to wait till summer for them to get their grow spurt. Great vid!

The size of that at 21 days is unbelievable, I started mine about 3 months ago, I put them outside while the weather was good but 4 out of 6 got pot holes in the leaves from insects so I've put them back inside on the window seal, the 2 that haven't been eaten are doing fine but still small but leaves are coming but the rest seem to be dormant since.

Good stuff... Ive been growing any citrus seed I could find in the last 2 years. I have 4, 8 to 12 year old trees, none fruited yet with the exception of the pomelo (or grapefruit) tree which had one orange colored grape sized citrus and many other stunted ones.. Granted I've left them outside under cover here in central vancouver island the last winter, only this year are they in a closed single pane greenhouse with a clear plastic tarp over the greenhouse and they are making it. Hopefully the hotter conditions of the greenhouse in the summer will enable better fruiting or trigger fruiting in my seed mandarin, seed lemon, and store bought meyer lemon and lemon tree...

I planted some recently... With citrus, seeds are best planted fresh... I just grow indoors until springtime and put it outside after last frost then keep in a place where the growing medium won't freeze in the next winter. Most citrus do need some 'cold' periods and they typically do better outdoors.
