Oh boy loofas !!! 😂 My grandson refers to it as "the jungle plant that took over the garden " 😝 A couple of years ago 1 plant took over the entire pavilion in the potager garden ,the entire outer structure was swallowed by it 😂 my grandsons loved it!!! They would create openings and crawl in to the interior of the pavilion ,we took picnics in and blankets pretending we were stranded on a island ! 😆 We had several wagon fulls of sponges !!! This year I plan to plant them in the childrens garden 💙

Robbie, it’s so nice to see your beautiful smile today. What a fun video! I cannot wait to see the loofa and the broom grass grow. I know that ghetto loofas can take over the yard, I have never seen the plant that you can grow and make the broom 🧹 😊

I put good potting soil in the bottom, half of my seed starting trays, and then put the seeds starting soil on top of that. In my opinion, you only need the seed starter where the seed is terminating. I've done it for many years and it always works.

I always thought about putting soil underneath my seam starting next and now you've confirmed that it works. Thank you so much!

Robbie, please, please, pretty please, make a video if you decide to 'pop' your broom corn and eat some of your loofas when they are young and tender. That would be such a fun video, especially if you include Janie when you create the video.

I love Baker Creek seeds. They always germinate well for me and they don't charge extra shipping and handling. they will deliver a four dollar packet of seeds to me for four dollars. No extra costs.

Wow Robbie - I have never thought about where loofahs come from. I love learning from you. Given your relationship with your neighbors- I bet they would make great Christmas presents.

Don’t ever buy the ones from foreign countries, full of chemicals. Grow your own or find a local grower, there is one in Nipomo , California

Robbie question about the neighbors tree in back of you. Will you be trimming that back so that the bine will grow on the metal grid. It looks like the vine wants some sun. Wow didn't know we could grow our own loofa sponges!!!😮

I have loofa seeds to try this year. Hard here in NH zone 5. I did get a couple tiny birdhouse gourds to grow last year. 😊

Lots of interesting info while you planted. A local art fair sells tall bundles of broom corn that make wonderful primitive decor standing by the fire place. It is a dark burgundy color. I assume the loofahs soften when wet?

I have my Grandmother's home made brooms that she used when I was a lil girl. They hang on my wall as decoration. They remind me so much of my sweet Granny. I'm in North Florida and they are made out of something that grows plentiful here. I see it growing all over. I think it's a weed but not sure! Love the idea of growing your own broom!

omg........heading out to see if we have Loofa and Broom Corn seeds up here in Canada. What a hoot. Robbie, how tall do those corns get? I need to create a Privacy Wall, so these 2 will definitely be something I will try too....now, do you have to peel those Loofas, or does the skin just fall off them? The kids in my neighborhood will love these....
