UPDATE: As of the 2/27 patch, nettles will not reset their growth stage when they dry up. While I have not done any testing on it yet, this essentially means that you should be able to grow nettles without the need for a sprinkler. After two or three rainy days, they should bloom completely on their own.

There is still a bug that causes their growth cycle to reset if you save/quit and then reload the game

After i've done my first tour of Hamlet seasons I decided I wanted to try to grow nettles in ROG and SW. Growing Nettles in the Caves of ROG during Spring is Pretty much Set it and Forget it. Just gotta make sure you bring Dense Turf to set those nettles on. Weird thing about that is they Grow in 4 days or 2. Not sure why they do that considering it's always raining in the Caves during spring. SW on the other hand is different. While I could build a sprinkler, I found waiting for the flooding to happen during monsoon season to be better. After a Piece of land has flooded placing Dense Turf down and then the nettles is like Constant Rain. Just gotta make sure you build that Lightning Rod first.

Nettles, while being the only way to safely get through hay fever season, constantly reset their growth. Even in the latest patch. Theyre hopelessly bugged. There have been times, when replanted nettle fields would yield 20-30 pieces at once, while on others, even though they were wet and should "pop" after a fog + rain, they just didnt - theyve got to the second stage and then reverted back to first.

Nice video. Btw I noticed that some small spots on deep jungle don't have any ferns on them which can be used a nettle farmland. Although It might be just luck

I should have clarified. You can definitely still find space to build in deep forest with default settings, it's just much harder.

Great guide, I've played about 60hrs (separately ofcoure haha) and most of the time made it past flu season without nettles, but it's time to make em! I don't think Klei have given us enough days here to harvest stuff. Always find it difficult either balancing getting a house and farming, with other times.

Really late reply, but I definitely agree with not having enough time to grow nettles, it's such a pain to try and get a sprinkler built in time for lush season, let alone the amount of time you have to basically babysit your nettle vines to get them to grow

It does, if it's turned on. Otherwise, running through your burning nettles to refuel and turn on can be a treacherous venture, especially considering how difficult it is to find the on switch when your nettle hitboxes are obstructing click access to your sprinkler.

Thank you! Who would have thought you refill a sprinkler with boards?!? There hae been updates, and now you can sometimes find a blooming nettle in the rain. I always grab the nettle and then dig up to replant.

Only grow when wet. Now imagining bringing jungle turf and nettles to RofG, and throwing water balloons at your nettle garden every few mins. No sneezies there, but food that never spoils is a rarity.

It's always raining after the fog so, in the first year, when the fog comes, i just go to the fountain of youth Island to harvest nettle.

Yak, thanks for the info, now i know why i managed to pass the whole humid seasom without farming a single nettle from the plants i realocated. Ps: i did read u comment about 2/27 update but looks like the cicle still restart, at leas it did to me cuz no plant gave me the nettle :/

It still seems beneficial to set up a sprinkler around nettles, at least for the first Lush season. Without one I really need to have the nettles planted right at the start of Humid season, and even then might only get one harvest before it ends.
