I came here with my family ( hubby + 3 kids) in 2022 as a student, i started my professional work in 2023. A Proudly South African, i miss my country everyday, my plan to go back home will NEVER change, to continue from where i left in making the difference and contributing to the economy of my beloved country and more specially serving the people of my nation.I cannot complain about Canada, people here are nice and what my family understands is that no matter how much we love it here, SA will always be our home sweet home, the place of our origin, our roots and our culture!🥰

Hearty congrats on your Canadian Silver Jubilee anniversary! Your relatable story is indeed a positive and inspiring one! There are a few Nigerian folks who settled in Winnipeg since the 1980s and also have rich stories just like yours. Wishing you another prosperous twenty-five years ahead!

I absolutely love this video! It feels like you’re speaking directly to me. As I navigate my mid-30s, retirement is constantly on my mind. I’m actively investing in my future through various financial avenues, including real estate and stocks. Yet, I find myself pondering: Do I want to settle here forever, or will I return to Nigeria to enjoy my investments? I haven’t fully made up my mind yet, but as you wisely said, time will tell. Hearing from someone who has walked this path is truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story.

Going two decades now, for me it is both and, knowing what I now know that this land was forcefully taken by the settlers it is all about keeping my heritage and ensuring having a presence in the place of my origin and be proud of that place no matter the current drama or issues.

@@ThisSideOfLifeWisdom I don't really dwell on the concept called "old age" but the idea is to go back and forth preferable 6 months here and 6 months in Nigeria and allow things to unfold with passing time. Keep up the good work of sharing your ideas/thoughts.

Japa is not a term applicable to me. I do well in every place I find myself. But honestly, I want to travel because I want to see what other parts of the world looks like. I want to experience the racism. I want to be a part of stories. I'm tired of sitting in one place and living among the same people. So, next year, canada will see me, and I will see her. She will greet me, and I will greet her. And in a few more years, other parts of the world will see me. And in the end, I will be able to say I CAME, I SAW AND I CONQUERED. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk

I love it! We have only one life to live, why live it stuck in one place? And yes, i dont know why people think you can only thrive in a particular location. Your case is the only one that I will support people leaving Nigeria 🇳🇬. You want to see the world . Tell the embassy that because it is a good reason to travel. I left too for the same reason not because Nigeria was not good at the time in fact my life was better in Nigeria than when I arrived abroad.

Thank you for this authentic video of you sharing your story of life of a Nigerian emigrant in Canada. How lovely the way you intertwine scriptural references and yoruba proverbs while revealing a balance of challenges and victories along your journey. What kept me glued and huming is the background music. Please Ma'am what's the name of the artist of your soundtrack?
