Definitely depends on the size/health of the root you receive And you must be a skilled gardener!

I really enjoyed your presentation. I live in North Carolina so it's interesting to see how different areas take care of their peonies. I have all 3 types of peonies with over 25+ different Itoh peonies.

Always great to get a hot summer z9 perspective! I grow in z9b here in Texas, and the learning curve for sun exposure and time of year is interesting considering I used to garden in zones 4, 6, and 7. Last summer, even my cosmos and zinnias were burning frying!

Can you tell me how much ice, how often and for how long you add ice around the roots. Like add 2 cups of ice every night from December - February etc. I’m sure it’s not exact but just a general plan. I know a good size plant is an investment so I just want to know if I can manage it first.

How often must you "dump ice" on the plants to make them bloom?
@vanwindensgardencenterАй бұрын
You want to create a long period of COLD for them. Try and time an ice dump during a cold winter storm so it lasts the longest! It's hard to say how often... it depends on your USDA zone, the weather you're getting that winter, the variety of peony you're growing AND container vs ground. That's a lot of variables so it's not an exact science at all!

What mulch do you like best? I have to buy a bunch, I really like a natural look.

"Micro bark" is great around peonies. It's pine bark that is in small, thumb-nail sized pieces.

Explain in detail the ice over peony trick please.
